JACK was conceived by Anthony reynolds in cardiff during the early 1990's.
By 1995 the group - based around the songwriting partnership of Reynolds and guitarist matthew Scott-had recorded their debut album.

Released in the summer of 1996 on the Too Pure/Beggars group, 'Pioneer Soundtracks'went on to gobble up world wide acclaim. The first four classic singles, 'I Didn't mean it Marie', 'Wintercomessummer', 'White Jazz' and Biography of a first son' were all Melody Maker 'single of the week'. Produced by Peter Walsh (Also producer of Scott Walker's 'Climate of Hunter', 'Tilt' and 'The Drift' and Simple mind's 'new Gold dream', the album was released around the world (By Rick Rubin's 'American recordings' in The U.S.) and has so far sold under a million copies. The new re-release is a two disc set featuring B-Sides, Demos, alternative mixes and a legendary concert from the Paris Cigale in late 1996.
Jack went on to record two further albums, 'The Jazz age' and 'The end of the way its always been'. They split in 2002.
