So what is Jackson Observer? Is it a place? Is it a sound? Is it a philosophy? Answering in the affirmative to all of the above would be accurate.
To most, the intersection of Jackson Street and Observer Highway in Hoboken, NJ, is as ordinary a place as could be found in any urban landscape. However, to these four musicians who met there one fateful afternoon, it is much more than just that. It is a sound that is created by the diversity of influences brought together by these four including rock, funk, r&b, hip hop, reggae and bluegrass. It is a philosophy in how music should be created through collaboration and improvisation, how it should be shared by all who love live music and most importantly, how it should be celebrated and enjoyed. It is everything. It is more.
Jackson Observer (a.k.a. JO) is the unique artistic collective lead by guitarist and composer Pete Lacis (Barbuda, Thique, Waves on Mars, Leroy), keyboardist Mike Leondi (Fultons Last Flight), bassist Steve Weinberg (Mayflower Rats, Echofisson, The Game, Sweet Medicine, Friends of Gordon) and drummer/percussionist Mark Lacis (Barbuda, Thique, Waves on Mars, BeWild).
