The most exciting young adult ensemble you've ever heard!
Jacksonville Mass Choir is an all-city youth ensemble under the direction of Artistic Director Deborah McDuffie. It is a program of ARTS4JAX, Inc., a community arts not-for-profit foundation which is funded in part by The Jaguars Foundation.
J-MAC is made up of 50 talented youth vocalists between the ages of 13-24 in the Jacksonville metropolitan area. It has a junior component, Jacksonville Boys & Girls Choir, for children ages 5-12.
The group’s cultural diversity has everything do with its sound and style. The group is also unique in the number of vocalists who have solo capabilities.
J-MAC performs everything from contemporary Gospel and Motown to advanced classical repertoire and music of other cultures.
The group traveled to Philadelphia in May, performing its “TO PHILLY WITH LOVE” tribute to the sounds of Philadelphia to a sold out crowd of 1800. It reprised the show in Jacksonville in June at University of North Florida’s Lazzara Performance Hall.
Most recently the group was invited to perform for Barack Obama at a democratic fundraiser at the Prime Osborn Convention Center in Jacksonville.
Jacksonville Mass Choir is the sound of tomorrow. The group is currently working on its first CD, which will be available in the fall of 2008. A 2-hour DVD of the Philadelphia concert will be available in July.
JMAC is proudly sponsored by Jaguars Foundation, Ben Carter Properties and generous corporate and private donations.
