Jack Wilson, Jr is a rock n roll band. Jack Wilson, Jr is not a novelty act. The band views the uniquely American rock and R&B idiom as its right, it’s heritage, its lens through which to view the world, it’s voice with which to make sense of it. 50s Tele twang to 60s suits and sunglasses to 70s flannel and beer-in-the-morning disillusionment.
Jack Wilson, Jr is not an art school wank. Jack Wilson, Jr is a collaboration among four “alt bros” committed to a common craft. Arrangements that serve the song. Lyrics that cut to the guts of what it is that defines our humanity: fear, desire, a necessarily well-developed sense of humor.

The Name
Jack Wilson (aka Wovoka) was a Native American preacher responsible for the spread of the ghost dance phenomenon in the late 1890s. Jack Wilson is also the name of Jack Palance’s archetypal “bad guy” in the Western classic Shane. And then of course there’s the great Jackie Wilson, who danced on TV like he did in the ring, effectively creating “Elvis” and the best American export since democracy: rock music.
