11/15/06: Ryan Osterbeck, Silicon Valley Metro:
"the sound is clean, amazingly harmonized and spans musical styles ranging from hard-hitting punk-inspired choruses to driving rock solos to
intelligent alt-indie numbers that meld into a sound rarely heard these days."
01/10/07: Ryan Osterbeck, Silicon Valley Metro:
"driving, intense rock with gorgeous vocal work."
02/28/07: Ryan Osterbeck, Silicon Valley Metro:
"Jade of Days is getting some well-deserved recognition at the upcoming Emergenza Music Festival—a sort of worldwide battle of the bands—hitting the Rockit Room in San Francisco on Saturday, March 3. After tearing up the local San Jose bar circuit for more than two years and putting out two extraordinary albums—In the Absence of Light and Gracas a Dues—Jade of Days just may be on the cusp of breaking into the big time, even though this sublime local four-piece seems to be playing that aspect down."
4/18/07: Ryan Osterbeck, Silicon Valley Metro:
"Jade of Days - ALT-ROCK TAPESTRY: Enthralling audiences since 2004 with an intriguing meld of musical genres...Splendid vocal tapestries woven by lead singer Dana Kelley drape the focused, driving riffs of guitarist Paul Borges while bassist Nelson Medeiros and drummer Junior Medeiros lay down a solid rhythmic foundation. Tight, unpredictable melodies compliment thoughtful lyrics to construct an overall sound that is imaginative and free. See for yourself- Jade of Days reaches a musical equilibrium mature enough to warrant breakthrough success and mainstream exposure."
4/20/07: Michael Magic from Bay Area Back Stage:
"Jade of Days - Female fronted band with Musical Hooks = Strong Vocals. Unique Quirky Taps from Bass and Guitar, a Rhythm section that holds it down for the Guitarist to Coax Robert Fripp sounding leads, from a San Jose veteran Guitar Slinger in the pocket."
9/02/08: Ess-ON or ESS-SUN here. Here's what I woulda wrote on an article: "JOD and it's lead, Dana Kelley, haven't missed a beat after a one year hiatus from the local music scene. Not only did their performance rock the Downtown Brit, but they christened their new Bassist Nelson 2. With Paul's beefed-up pedal board and trance guitar riffs, and the miraculous return of its prodigal drummer Jr. Medeiros, JOD took home 1 overall of the votes at this year's Your Music Olympics. Go Gang. Go! Don't stop believin'!"
4/22/09: Barbara Wahli from Barb Rocks Presents in A conversation with Barb Rocks by Sean Thompson, South Bay Rock Music Examiner:
"That's why I like Jade of Days. Dana (lead singer Dana Kelley) has such a unique voice and she carries herself so well with it and the instrumentation and the skills with the band are not what you typically hear on the radio. I don’t even know who to compare them to. I mean I kind of want to say Paramore, but even Paramore doesn’t have what Jade of Days has in my mind. I was really impressed when I first heard them play (on CD) and then when I saw them live I was really blown away and they just continue to blow me away. People might say its biased, because I manage them, but that’s what made me want to manage them. I was a fan and that’s how I became a friend. And with their new stuff they are just continuing to get better and I think with the industry right now picking up female-fronted music that has a little more intricate guitar. I think they do have a chance. I think if the right person were to hear them, they would get signed in an instant. Kind of like Flyleaf or Paramore got big, y’know, so quickly. I think the same thing could happen for Jade of Days."

Formed in San Jose, California in early 2004, Jade of Days easily distinguishes themselves from other Bay Area bands by combining intelligent lyrics, powerful and soulful vocals – courtesy of the talented Dana Kelley – intricate arrangements influenced by a plethora of genres which are expertly brought together by musicians Nelson Medeiros (guitars), Sandro Costa (keyboards), Nelson Candido (bass), and Junior Medeiros (drums). JOD creates a unique and decidedly modern sound.
The summer of 2005 saw the release of JOD’s first effort – In the Absence of Light – an impressive debut showcasing the band’s potential and their evolving sound. In the Absence of Light laid the groundwork for Jade of Days' 2006 sophomore offering – Gracas a Deus – which presented fans with a much more experimental collection of music that only served to enhance their signature sound.
Raw, emotional, and written from intensely personal places, JOD’s arrangements envelop the listener with intricate guitar work, solid bass and drum lines, and delicate – yet full – keyboards. Topped off with singer Kelley’s lush vocals, it is easy to understand how Jade of Days quickly became recognized as one of the Bay Area’s most talented groups, prompting Ryan Osterbeck – staff writer for the Silicon Valley Metro – to write about JOD: "…the sound is clean, amazingly harmonized and spans musical styles ranging from hard-hitting punk-inspired choruses to driving rock solos to intelligent alt-indie numbers that meld into a sound rarely heard these days." [Metro Nov 15-21, 2006].
Jade of Days kept busy, playing every venue in the South Bay (and some beyond), building their base, sharing their unique musical vision, becoming recognized as one of the premier talents working the scene. In 2007, the band’s talent and appeal was recognized when they were selected as the opening act in Channel 104.9's Day on the Meadow, sharing the stage with They Might Be Giants, Fountains of Wayne, DJ Scotty Boy, Medina Lake, and Kung Fu Vampire. JOD followed this up in 2008 by joining the San Jose chapter of Your Music Magazine Olympicks, a multi-month competition spanning the Bay Area where singer Kelley took Gold in the Vocalist Competition. Then, after enduring line-up changes and striving to move onward and upward, health issues within the band necessitated them taking a hiatus from writing and performing, a hiatus which has lasted for a year and a half.
In 2009, Jade of Days is poised to reach new heights of artistic and musical excellence with the release of the aptly titled Resurgence, a five-song EP that best exemplifies their fully realized, signature sound. JOD further cemented their reputation as one of the Bay Area’s top acts with their performance at Left Coast Live 2009 – San Jose’s premier music festival – which featured legendary performers and local acts such as Booker T, Lyrics Born, Miggs, The Mumlers, Good Hustle, Kung Fu Vampire, Monkey, The Frail, Ambience, Safety Suit, and many others. JOD did not disappoint, as they gained new fans and thrilled old friends with their tight, expertly delivered set.
Jade of Days rocks with passion, heart, and integrity. Resurgence finds them at the top of their game, creating rock n’ roll that not only kicks ass but also challenges all preconceived notions of what rock could be. Jade of Days’ time has come…
