The Jade Quartet is an all-girl string quartet taking its name from the gemstone known for its beauty and wide ranging expressiveness. Recognized for their extraordinary ability to play in different genres of music, Jade regularly records for hip hop, house, rock and folk projects.
The four women, each conservatory trained at the highest level, came together with the shared desire to express themselves through innovative string music. Although Jade has been together for less than a year, the quartet(or sections of it) has already recorded for artists such as Ja Rule, Ashanti, Seven Aurelius, Phase 9, and Bobbie Eakes. One track, written by Paul McCartney and recorded for Bobbie Eakes, was commended by Paul McCartney on his personal website.
Jade has appeared throughout New York City at venues ranging from Merkin Hall to the Bitter End.
