Classical pianist Jade Simmons is making a name for herself as a Renaissance woman of the millennium. She’s an artist with mega groove factor specializing in fiendishly difficult rhythmic and percussive repertoire for the piano and is fast becoming the go-to person for Contemporary music composers and other adventurous performers.
The catch… she’s not only a Classical pianist. She’s an advocate for youth, speaking on numerous topics of social concern including youth suicide prevention. She writes articles on the arts and designs her own concert wear which she plans to expand into a commercial line called Zhedya (Jade in Russian). Mozart on the Move is the arts education program she created to expose children to the arts and her proudest achievement is the founding of The Impulse Artist Series in Houston which provides performance opportunities to other emerging pianists. As a result of these endeavors, Jade was featured as one of Ebony Magazine’s Young Leaders under 30, on newsstands this past January 2007.
Jade is on the roster of the prestigious Concert Artist Guild organization where she was named as the first ever New Music, New Places Fellow. She has a new trio called Collide that blurs traditional Classical music boundaries. Her performances are exciting and her projects are numerous.
