Jadis and Spade was officially formed in 2006 by brothers Daniel Dominguez and Sergio Dominguez. Taking its name from a dialectical conception eg. Yin and Yang, Flotsam and Jetsam etc, the Spade word that the band liked for its association with gambling and risk was grouped with Jadis, the name of the witch from the acclaimed Chronicles of Narnia novels. The style of the band has often been contested as to what exact musical category is Jadis and Spade submerged in. Indeed blues rock, psychedelic, punk, alternative and more recently goth rock and drone music have been thrown to the table as an attempt to describe the Jadis and Spade sound. The most important thing however are the compositions, the chemistry of instruments (mix of sounds) and the soulfulness and emotive quality of the music. Having that said Jadis and Spade has had couple of lineups although the core of the band remains the songwriting team of the Dominguez brothers. A new album is scheduled to be released in early 2010 with all new original songs.
