JAE B “THE SOUL MAN”
Soul music is described by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as music that arose out of the Black experience in America through the transmutation of Gospel and Rhythm & Blues into a form of funky, secular testifying. With that, Jae B is a quintessential soul man in its purist sense.
He resisted singing the Blues for years, although he was encouraged by others to do so. A few months ago, Jae B added a couple of Blues songs to his repertoire and got a good response. Then he added another, and then another. Then he started feeling it. Even though he is a recent convert to the Blues, but he has jumped in with both feet. He admits that the allure of the Blues was always within him, but he had suppressed it. He has aptly titled his soon to be released Blues CD “Born Into the Blues”.
Jae B is now carrying on the tradition of great Blues men like Albert King, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, B. B. King, and Bobby Blue Bland. And the great soul men like Otis Redding, Ray Charles, James Brown, Johnny Taylor, Sam & Dave, Z. Z. Hill, Tyrone Davis, and Bobby Womack.
He also respects the genres of Blues and Soul and vows to keep it real just like the great artists did. That includes dressing the part as well as giving the audience all he’s got. Jae B works hard for the audience like the old school performers of the 50s and 60s. He pulls his audiences in with high energy performances and a contagious smile. He has the stamina to perform all night long with the same vigor and dynamism from the first song to the last, giving passionate and dramatic performances that endear him to his audiences.
Jae B is also a musician, songwriter, and prolific producer. He produced all the songs on the Black Pearls CD “The Voyage”, and he now has a long list of clients waiting their turn at his production skills.
As much as he now loves the Blues, Jae B isn’t limited to the genre. He also brings the funk with the sounds of Cameo, Slave, the Gap Band, Funkadelic/Parliament, Maze and others to get the audience on the dance floor. And he is fantastic when he gets grown and sexy with the mellow Neo Soul sounds of D’Angelo, Raphael Saadiq, Kem, Maxwell, and Anthony Hamilton.
Jae B possesses great versatility as an artist. He sings Gospel music with the same passion as Marvin Winans, Lee Williams, the Jackson Southernaires, and Marvin Sapp. And Jae B also blows away Jazz standards in the musical stylings of Tony Bennett, Joe Williams, Frank Sinatra, and Mel Torme.
Jae B has something for everybody, and he is one of Atlanta’s best kept secrets. But now, the secret is out.
