About me: Unceremoniously kicked out of art school, I now illustrate for comics, films & television.
Isn't education a wonderful thing?
Credits include; "Doomsday", "The Raven: Evil Calls", "As Far As You've Come", "Bad Brown Owl", "Laid Off", "The Jacket", "Rose Black" (OGN), "Elephant Boy", "Wish" & numerous commercials.
Provided pre-visualisation for "Me Too!" & "Captain Longtooth & The Curse Of The Golden Egg".
Clients include; Rogue Pictures, Section 8, Once Were Farmers, Mallinson Television Productions, Lexus, Irn Bru, Bank Of Scotland, Tennants, Autonomi, Forest Of Black & La Belle Allee.
Who I'd like to meet: The "creative" minds behind "Jeepers Creepers","Ultraviolet","The Witches Hammer" & the recent "Gen 13" comics for ripping off some of the best material I have worked on.
Dez Skin for letting the Roughcut team down so badly.
Rosaleen Young for completely different reasons.
Willingness has never been an issue. Funny thing is I know or have met countless people who vehemently object to being expected to do any work at all yet have no trouble getting hold of it. And then I’m desperate for work, film or otherwise, and nobody will give me the time of day. Stinks.
On reflection, ‘misleading’ would have been a more appropriate word than ‘optimistic’ – I haven’t decided yet if I really want to or not. Having a film account implies I have a job that I don’t – on one hand it’s more professional but on the other, at this stage, it could seem pretentious -so I think maybe I should wait and set one up if some work ever comes along.
I done a drawing of the Flash (the DC Comics superhero)last week, except in A3! Once I rub out the pencil lines and colour it in, look out for it on my page.
I’m not sure. It did seem a bit rushed at the start but for me MOST films do on the first viewing. But usually films are better off losing material than gaining. Exposition and character development’s all very well but if it ruins the flow of the movie is it really a good thing? Especially if we only end up learning stuff we don’t really need to know.
But then again, extra screentime for Darren Morfitt and Sean Pertwee won’t see any complaints from me.
Armour doesn’t really protect the stifle (or whatever it’s called on humans) – the Knight wouldn’t be able to move if it did – providing easy access to the femoral artery (major design flaw really). Then you can go off and have a cup of tea while they bleed to death.
As for how well it would work cinematically... that depends entirely on how creative you can be with blood spurtage.
Alternatively, if they’re mounted you can always trip the horse. Looks cool, but all the cinema goers cry “aw, the poor horse!!” so you’d be unpopular.
I would say though, it’s not a film to watch with a former reenactor. My mum kept trying to instruct Rhona Mitra on the correct way to bring down a knight.
Wahoo!! Managed to sweet talk my mother into giving me a lift to Burnley to see Doomsday!! I now know Raising Arizona wasn’t a one off - exploding rabbits ARE funny.
I waited around to check how your name was spelled.
There was a man sitting a few rows in front, and had I so desired I could have watched the entire movie (flipped 90 degrees) reflected in the left side of his bald head!!
Saw Doomsday yesterday. Good to see they got your name right on the credits for once! (check out the closing credits for The Jacket, dir. John Maybury...). Sorry, could not make out your artwork on the APCs, though! I think The Descent is Mr Marshalls bestest film but D-day was fun. I chuckled out loud three times during it!
I know, but the best stories rarely are. Like the space race one where the Americans spend millions of dollars developing a pen that’ll write in zero gravity while the Russians just use a pencil. That one’s just a myth but, you know, I like to believe it anyway.
Ha, just looking at the post below. A while back I applied for a job on a short film, being shot in Hartlepool, set during the Napoleonic Wars. I wonder what it was about...
Who is Leah Walker? Not the Big Brother contestant with the synthi boobs who did a mucky movie? You know I have a low opinion of P*rn movies. They degrade the the soul and that. Honest.
Bebo sucks but it..s easier to use than Myspazz! Okay, I..ll put up some pictures but I need you here to show me as computers hate me and need to be tortured for being evil horrible machines.
