Head of the London based House label, ‘Artizan Music’, with production partners Maxime Cescau (together as Poussez) and Andy Touchfingers (Jafar & Touch), Jafar is also known under the Jafar & Bobby Strobe or Rare Unit monikers, as well as being the tour DJ for the 8piece live collective Poetiquette.
A DJ for over 15+ years and former winner of Musik Magazine's prestigious 'Bedroom Bedlam'(2000), Jafar rose to fame on the techno circuit opening for the likes of Carl Cox, Sven Vath and Billy Nasty at seminal nights like 'Final Frontier' and 'Eurobeat 2000' way back in the 90s. DJ Mag hailed him as 'The Rising Star of Deep House' (2004), a reputation he has gone onto firmly cement, via a relentless flow of international gigs, remixes and releases on respected underground imprints including Loud East, Universal Vibes, Huddtraxx, Blacksoul, Hustle, Pesto, Hydraulix, Gravitation, Berwick Street and of course Artizan Music. His remix credits take in Rithma, Pete Dafeet and Terry Farley, whilst he has also collaborated on works with Marcus Begg, Rich Medina, Funky Transport and Demarkus Lewis. His Poussez material with Maxime goes from strength to strength, counting Roberto Rodriquez, Nacho Marco and Atjazz amongst the artists interprating them.
A DJs DJ, Jafar has long honed both his crafts; As dedicated to his turntablism as he is his production. You will still find him cutting it up across three 1210's and two CDjs - not to say he's not a fan of Tractor/Serato, rather, he is a diehard vinyl lover.
With his and Maxime's first Poussez Album dropping in 2009/10, their label and 'Uptownboogiedown' parties ever on the up, a recent publishing deal and a steady flow of new releases and gigs month on month, Jafar continues to be a veritable Tour de force in the music field.
