About me:
GO LISTEN TO US AT: www.jagradio.iupui.edu
In Spring of 2002 the StudentVoice Slate ran for student government - lead by Shawn Plew. One of their missions was to start a campus radio station. All but the president of that slate won . That fall Andrew Hutton, the Vice President, started the Radio Committee. He was the sole member until Spring of 2003 when two others students joined the mission. They started having regular committee meetings and worked with administration. The committee created the initial website - jagradio.com. That fall Ben Racher joined the team when he started at IUPUI. Seeing a need he wrote a strongly worded email that ignited a flame with students. The first committee meeting after that letter was extremely well attended. JagRadio was off and running. They elected committee officers, worked with administration and got a 20,000 dollar a year commitment from Karen Whitney the vice chancellor, given that the program be directed by the school of Journalism. The committee officially asked student government to be its own organization and that was it..... the school of journalism then took over.
During the Spring semester the station was run by 5 students and two professors. We are a web-based radio station and are currently streaming over 1500 songs on www.jagradio.iupui.edu
We will soon have live DJs and regularly-scheduled programs.
