Booker T meets Dick Dale with a splash of gin & tonic
The JAGUARS, Atlanta's surf and garage fueled organ trio, perform a wide range of original instrumental Hammond B3 style music from psychedelic surf, to swanky go-go, mixed in with some covers from Booker T & The M.G.'s, The Ventures, Dick Dale and others! Their sound is one that is familiar to many, but lost in today's times, and The Jaguars are bringing back a slice of the 60's mod era and infusing it with their own stylings, serving up a luscious platter of organ grooves. Everyone from adults to 20-something hipsters alike have been spotted cutting a rug at a live Jaguars performance.
The Jaguars are Spencer Garn (Hammond B3 organ), Scott Clayton (electric guitar), and Mark Raudabaugh (drums). The three musicians, who originally met in Gainesville, FL, are also members of the soul funk outfit Soulphonics & Ruby Velle based in Atlanta, GA. The guys performed live together with the trio for the first time to a small, but enthusiastic, crowd on January 29, 2009 at The 529 in East Atlanta Village between DJ sets from The Fringe Factory DJ's Vikki V and Suzy Q.
The first "official" Jaguars debut gig took place on Feb 28th, 2009 in front of a near sold out crowd at The Highland Ballroom Lounge with The Fringe Factory, and ever since then The Jaguars have been turning heads and wowing audiences with their eclectic, down home gritty sounds.
Recordings took place in the first couple days of March and there are plans to release a 7" single soon. For info or to contact, please email at JaguarsATL@gmail.com
