About me:
For as long as I can remember, writing has always called to me. The power of the written word, the ability to move others with them, and the ability to capture on the page the movie playing in my mind.
Whether it was a short story or a full-fledged novel, a piece for the long term care resident rights advocate I work with, or the services performed as a recording secretary, writing has always been at the center of my life.
After winning a short story writing contest in an academic literary magazine, I tried my hand at various genres, including mystery, science fiction, and paranormal. Then I "inherited" a moderator position with The Writers BBS in their Romance Writers Forum and realized just how much I loved it and missed writing it. It shouldn't have surprised me. After all, its where I first fell in love with reading and writing, and nothing speaks to a person's heart and soul like the power of love, of someone finding their other half... especially when they least expect it.
My first two romances (Tinsel and Ship Shape) found publication with fledging e-book publisher Krysia's Web Books, while my third - Something to Talk About - has found success on the contest circuit, earning a finalist nomination for Best Short Contemporary Romance in the Romance Writers of America's Golden Heart Awards (2007).
I am so blessed to have a wonderful network of friends and families who support my dreams and my writing, and to have wonderful mentors and fellow writers who encourage me, challenge me, and dare me to continue to reach for my dream of becoming a published author.
I'm often asked how I stick with writing when it's such a challenge to get published. Of course it's that challenge that makes it so much fun, but I simply can't imagine my life without writing.
I guess it all comes down to one thing, which also happens to be the best advice I've ever been given. Be bold. Failure might sting, but there's nothing worse than looking back on "What If?" and "What Could have been" and realizing the only thing standing in your way was you, and that the reason you never managed to "do" was because you never "did".
So be bold! You never know what might happen... where it might lead... or what doors it will open.
