Jah Lion, also known some years ago with the name of "Lion of Judah Sound", was born in the 1997 for the wish of a collector from the countryside of Sondrio (small italian alpine city), with a strong passion for Rocksteady, Ska and Early Reggae vinyl recordings, to transmit his own musical acquaintances and the message contained in his records to the people who encircle him. The project, born illicit in a sunny afternoon on a beach of Como Lake, and proposed to the holidayers like alternative to the naturalistic attractions of the place, has demonstrated since its first hours of life a good consent of public. This unexpected surprise has pushed Luca Pelizzatti, the founder, to continue to invest always greater resources in this work in the attempt to transmit, more and more to the people around Italy, his big passion for the roots of reggae music.
Along the time, following the natural route of reggae music and the spiritual route of Rastafari, his selections have discostate from the exclusive revival "first age 60s style" exploring to 360 degrees the Roots and dub productions ages 70s and 80s. Nowadays Jah Lion Sound proposes good conscious reggae music of all ages, leaving from the origins of Roots rocker reggae, arriving until the most recent & xperimental Roots and dub stepper UK style productions.
Jah Lion crew is composed by Luca, Roby, Alessandro Namless A, Alessandro, Ras Mighty.
Baro at Mike is the regular mc for the sound. He is a very special guest coming from Quickly Burning Sound System outta Bergamo.

Jah Lion has had the pleasure and the honor to play side by side with big artists like Steve Vibronics, Parvez Dub Factory, Zulu 99Posse, King David Warriors Sound System, Mighty Prince Alla, Asher Selecta, Nucleus Roots, Ras Hyha, Oxman (Dubvendor Allstars), Aba Shanti I, Murry Man, Jah Observer Sound System and many more.
The name of the sound represents an "heavy weight" because it incarnates itself a universal and absolute icon, but in the mean time, it represents the only right flag to the music that Jah Lion proposes. The research of the best mystic energy carryed by the low frequences of reggae music has pushed Jah Lion to search the deepest experimentations, proposing today a large selection of unreleased dubplates from the best UK and European producers and specials of big roots artists like Max Romeo, Rankin Joe, Prince Alla, Sugar Minott, Brother Culture, Justin Hinds, Everton Blender and many more.
The sound system supplied by Jah Lion has been gained from the readaptation of the old Jah Trinity UK scoop bins hand made by Milton and Terry Gad.
Mid and Treble - strictly horn boxes - were self manifactured in the 80s by an italian craftsman and provided with new powerful drivers ciare. The music coming from a shure stylus, grafted on a technics 1200 deck, is preamplified by Jah Tubbys Preamp and amplified by crest power amps. The equipment is provided with two self manifactured sirens, a boss de200 delay and a Line 6 Rack delay.
2006 have moreover seen the birth of a radio space lead from Jah Lion and Roots Doctor on the frequencies of "Radio Onda D'Urto" in FM for the north of Italy, via streaming and via saltellite for the rest world. This weekly radio program is named "Rasta Reggae Radio" and beyond pushing the new dub selections, it opens a channel for all the italian Roots reggae Sounds and producers. The transmission also features interviews to the best artists passing by Italy and live session recordings.

The Name of our Radio:
"Rasta Reggae radio" was the title of a radio program planned to be transmetted at the beginning of the 80s but never born. This program would be leaded by the rebel Peter Tosh that would have given voice to the poor ones and to the overwhelmed ones of the ghettos transmitting roots reggae music (full of spiritual and social thematic). Who had power in those years, could not allow something like that. Peter Tosh was a famous international personage already and , using a radiophonic public amplification, its voice could trigger devastating effects for the preconstituted power that took advantage on the social imbalance in order to cure its own advantages. The destabilizing element that an independent mass media like "Rasta Reggae Radio" could generate in fact, has been dampened on being born: In 1987 Peter Tosh's demise was not due to his accidentally stumbling into an ongoing robbery in his house, but instead was a premeditated murder committed by those (maybe even the American intelligence) who did not want Tosh to set up the controversial, militant "Rasta Reggae Radio" station in Jamaica . This name "Rasta Reggae radio" therefore has become for us a symbol of freedom and rebellion to the blinkers and earflaps that Babylon imposes us every day. Without no type of presumptuousness, we take today in our small program, the "baton" of a great but difficult personage as Peter Tosh and his message in order to unite our voice to the chorus of those who feels demselves suffocated from babylon system conspirancy. Roots reggae music is messenger of limpid truth. "Rasta reggae radio" is the space in which this truth can be expressed.
