From his debut over ten years ago, Fedd Hills Jahpan has had a marked impact on the national hip-hop scene. After experiencing Jahpans masterful wordplay and authentic hip-hop wizardry at the Round Midnight shows at the Black Reparatory Theatre, industry leading magazine The Source dubbed Fedd Hill as Providences rude boys, the true MCs of hip-hop. The Providence journal claims that Jahpans lyrics symbolically link to the era of old-school rap, feel-good party music that predates raps late-80s obsession with violence. Jahpan states, The pure hip-hop vibe that I bring to Fedd Hill allows me to escape the drudgery and daily grind of life in the hood. My pen and microphone are the tools of my salvation from lifes temptations. Born and raised in Rhode Island, Jahpan feels a strong sense of loyalty to the nations smallest state. Perhaps due to its small size, the rest of the country does not yet seem to know much about the Ocean State. Jahpan says that Fedd Hill aims to change that. We want to write our own Rhode Island chapter in hip-hop history. Rhode Island is a diamond in the rough and we want to show the world what this state is about. Other states may have bigger buildings, but there is no other place quite like Rhode Island. Within one block you can jump straight from a pretty white-boy neighborhood to the wrong side of the tracks. Despite his intense loyalty to the New England hip-hop scene, Jahpan has no qualms about traveling far and wide to spread the word about Fedd Hill and Rhode Island hip-hop. Due to his work with Time Machine, Funkbunker,Shawn Jackson,People under the stairs,JR Writer,Temperamento, and others, Jahpan frequently travels as far as Los Angeles to record tracks and shoot music videos. The hip-hop purist states Fedd Hill is going to the top and we are taking a whole state with us. When we go out on tour, we have one bus for the artists and a hundred more for our Rhode Island riders who have been there with us through thick and thin. With all the international traveling that Fedd Hill does, perhaps you can take Fedd Hill out of Rhode Island, but you cant take Rhode Island out of Fedd Hill.
