The three founding members of the favorite Richmond based groove band Solid Gold Fishbowl formed Jahvaquarium nearly three years ago when vocalist/lyricist, Anne Bloomsburg, drummer/percussionist, Zach Hess, and guitarist/songwriter, Pierre Picardat began writing and performing together.
Jahvaquarium has taken their previous incarnation of Solid Gold Fishbowl to a higher level with their musical maturity, turning sophisticated grooves, freshly focused energy, and a family atmosphere not far removed from their inspirations. Their original material, soaring melodies, dynamic vocals, rhythmic pulse and guitar styles remind listeners of music ranging from; The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers Band, and Phish, to Allison Krauss and Nanci Griffith with an audible edge.
On February 21, 2003, Clean was officially released and performed live in its entirety to a packed house at Alley Katz in historic Shockoe Bottom, Richmond, Virginia. Jahvaquariums three-hour, two set romp through original material included sweltering performances from the original band members and the CDs eleven guest musicians. The show soared to its natural pinnacle nearly two-thirds of the way through when the five members lead their eleven guests to the stage for a rousing extended rendition of The Bands The Weight. The Weight saw each member and guest taking a turn on their respective instruments for heated solos and vocals. The three-hour set climaxed to its conclusion with Groove is in the Heart, and included original Solid Gold Fishbowl favorites, along with crowd pleasing covers of songs by Billy Preston, The Rolling Stones, and Deee-Lite.
Jahvaquarium has received great crowd response performing at various clubs and larger venues along with stints opening for national artists such as The Jerry Garcia Band and The Derek Trucks Band. Their professional approach to performing and recording, stage presence, and musicianship is sure to gain them continued recognition while inspiring listeners and dancers alike with their feel-good melodic grooves.
