Slimpickins new CD Lagniappe
HERE IS A HOT LIVE VIDEO TRACK OF SLIMPICKINS IN THE WOODS
Slimpickins is a boisterous 4 piece band that transports you back a 150 years. The band is a variety music show, with styles including New Orleans influenced tunes, klezmer, Cajun, ragtime, country blues, appalachian, sprinkled with some jazz and swing. Annie Ford from Virginia plays a smoking fiddle and sings like a voice from a 20's record.
Jake Landry fingerpicks the guitar and has a low southern voice to be reckoned with. Slim Nelson of New Orleans is the one of the only bass players to be playing a rack harmonica at the same time. The aluminum bass ain't bad looking either. Eddy Tenderloin from McAllen, Texas first started eating with chopsticks then became a virtuoso using them on the washboard. He also doubles on guitar and vocals. Inspired by the The Great Depression and the current one, they seek to breath new life to these tunes and artists.

"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
