Take.... The Grateful Dead, Pearl Jam, Widespread Panic, Ben Harper, Neil Young, Dave Mathews Band, G. Love, Phish, and The Allman Bros.....and put them all into a blender and press blend. Then while it's blending, take the lid off. The pieces that fly out are like my songs. Every song is different! I pride myself on staying original, but I can't deny my influences. I never know what kind of style my next song will be. I've learned to be thankful for my inspiration, rather than try to keep a lid on it!!!!
We are proud to introduce to you, The Granting. This very exciting high energy three piece is kicking off right here in Arizona and growing fast! The group features two original members of longtime jam band 3D Ride, Jake Dean (guitar/vocals) and Brian Lewis (drums/percussion), along with David Wright (bass guitar) from the band Endoplasmic. There is a lot of excitement and anticipation in the air about the embarking of the band's new musical journey! Brian's intricate jazz influenced drumming, Wright's powerful Les Claypool-like bass playing, and a combination of Dean's raw passion, soulful lyrics, and strong guitar riffs, are just a few characteristics behind the powerful dynamic that breathes life into The Granting. The Trio takes great pride in the climactic energy of their live performance shows! Their styles range from folk rock to improv jam. This multi-genre band is influenced by such artists as: The Grateful Dead, Dave Matthews Band, WSP, Pearl Jam, Phish, Ben Harper, G.Love, George Clinton, Warren Haynes, Neil Young, and many more. With strategically composed setlists chalk full of fun transitions, crowd moving covers, and their original music, you are garunteed to be left in High Spirits after every show!!
Dean, though very enthusiastic about his return to the AZ music scene in January of '09, has spent most of his music career touring from coast to coast sharing the stage with Major National Acts such as: Chris Barron (Spin Doctors), DJ Logic (John Popper,WSP,MM&W), Jerry Joseph (Stockholme Syndrome, Dave Schools), and Ryan Bingham, to name a few. Last summer in North Carolina was another great run of shows playing side stage to Journey, Cheap Trick, and Heart. Dean says "I feel very blessed, and with all those great experiences in mind, I've never been more excited about the magic of The Granting and what is in store for us just up the road!" Be sure to check them out at www.TheGranting.com and www.CDBaby.com/cd/JakeDean for music, contact info, and band updates! Look out for their live shows in a town near you!
