About me: I previously had this weird third person reference to myself in this section and it creeps me out every time I read it, so this is the new and improved about me section. I rarely post stuff on MySpace because I spend most of my time posting things to JakeLudington.com, which happens to be both my full time job and a labor of love. I started publishing six years ago at Lockergnome and remain lucky enough to be what you might call a full time blogger. I typically publish tutorials on how to solve computer audio and video problems, but I occasionally write about restaurants, life hacks and anything else that happens to interest me at a given moment. I'm currently doing broadcast video encoding in Mountain View, CA and cover tech events like CES for The Chris Pirillo Show. I was actively learning Mandarin for the past year, but have slowed the pace of learning while I'm devoting time to the current project in CA. When the mood strikes me on sleepless nights, I add a few words in my slowly evolving novel about a guy who thinks he found the woman he will spend the rest of his life with until she abruptly causes him to question everything he knew about their relationship (it's more complicated than that and no it isn't biographical, although like most things, it's unavoidable to draw on some personal experience). In my spare time I'm discovering Silicon Valley and traveling back to Seattle.
Who I'd like to meet:
I met Vanilla Ice when I was 25, shouldn't that make my life complete? :P
The list of people I'd love to meet consists primarily of people departed from the world:
A few of the stories about my grandfather on my dad's side makes me think we might have some similarities. He passed away before I was born.
As a life hacker, Thomas Edison seems like someone I should know.
Isaac Asimov influenced many of my childhood dreams of the future and the stories of Edgar Rice Burroughs made the universe come alive in pulp fiction.
Of people among the living, I'd like to be good enough at Bridge to play against Bill Gates and Warren Buffet. I slept through meeting Bill G. at CES this year, but you learn more about someone from the way they play cards.
Just wishing you all the best for 2008. Also, do you have a favourate saying, proverb or poem you could share? If so add it below and share your wisdom for all to see...
