MY LIFE STORY REFORM TO RECREATE THEIR CLASSIC ALBUM
‘MORNINGTON CRESCENT’ - IN MORNINGTON CRESCENT, LONDON.
Fans ticket pre-sale from this site 9am Thursday 19th March.
Britpop legends My Life Story return to perform their classic debut album ‘Greetings From Mornington Crescent’ at London venue, Koko, on Thursday 26th November 2009.
The exclusive London show entitled ‘Return To Mornington Crescent’ will celebrate fifteen years since the album was recorded. The thirteen piece orchestral pop sensation will perform the album in its entirety as well as other hits and favorites from subsequent releases ‘The Golden Mile’ and ‘Joined Up Talking’.
Jake Shillingford, MLS songwriter and frontman says “There have been many requests for another My Life Story show over the last couple of years. However we wanted to come back with something special and meaningful. The plan is to have a ‘Mornington Crescent’ themed evening with guests, reflecting the early days of the Brit Pop movement from its roots in the Camden area. It’s the right time to do this now, fifteen years after the album was conceived.
Shillingford added, “The venue has a lot of memories for me. I wrote the album whilst working on the door, when Koko was called the Camden Palace. We really plan to go all out with this gig. There is a trend at the moment for bands to play classic albums. We want to take it one step further in that grandiose My Life Story style. Expect a big, bold and brash performance, all foxy horns and horny foxes”.
My Life Story enjoyed a string of chart hits in the 90’s and were main players in the Britpop movement. They were a huge favorite on the live circuit with flamboyant shows and a loyal following.
The album, which got to No.2 in the Indie chart was the first to be produced by Giles Martin (son of George) and punk legend Pat Collier, described by the Melody Maker at the time as: “The rebirth of flash, a new dawn of the dandy, it swaggers enormous”
My Life Story returned in 2006 after a six-year hiatus with a ‘best of’ album entitled Sex & Violins. This was followed by Megaphone Theology (B Sides and Rarities). They performed packed out shows in 2006 and 2007 at the Mean Fiddler, The Astoria and Shepherds Bush Empire. This will be their first live performance in two years.
Tickets go on sale from 9am Friday 20th March. There is a fans/Live Nation pre-sale from 9am Thursday 19th March.

Exilophone Records is a wholly autonomous record label conceived in 2002
by British Singer/Songwriter Jake Shillingford, founder of the cult
orchestral alternative band My Life Story.
Everything you see, hear and feel is funded by a small team of private backers:
called the Investor Angels.
The scheme is based on the traditional notion of patronage characteristic of the old
art scenes and music halls.
Over the past 6 years our Angels have made financial contributions in order for Jake
to record, manufacture and release music as well as tour and promote current material.
We have replaced the traditional role of the record company with our fans enabling us
to run our own genuinely independent label Exilophone Records.
The EI mantra is:
MADE FOR THE PEOPLE: PAID FOR BY THE PEOPLE
Our music comes straight from us to you. We feel that doing it ourselves means that
we can produce work for our listeners, which is undiluted and uncompromised.
We believe in having a close interactive relationship with our supporters.
This interactivity manifests itself in the fact that we invite like-minded people
to bring their talents to the table and contribute to the website and day-to-day
running of the band. !!! Start Code To Apply Top Banner !!!!
