BIO for Jalen James Acosta:
Multi-talented Jalen James is exploding next summer with his first solo Hip Hop album (completely in Spanish). His target? The world. Although his latest project is new and fresh, he has been in the music industry for quite some time and has paid his dues. Jalen James’ most recent success includes the internationally known Latin band ToKe D Keda, in which he contributed his songwriting, arrangement and production skills in addition to performing as rapper for the band in hundreds of worldwide venues. As time went on he gained immense popularity in the Bachata Pop genre all over Europe and Asia. As if his musical talent weren’t enough, Jalen James is also an accomplished actor working opposite top Hollywood actors such as academy award nominee Chazz Palminteri, Chad Lindberg and Michael Rappaport. He first exhibited his craft in a rendition of “Fame”, the famed off-Broadway show in which his role of Leroy Johnson received rave reviews all over the media circuits. Jalen honed his talent and received formal acting training at “The Acting Studio” as well as coaching from top Hollywood casting directors such as Casting Director Marc Hirshfeld (Seinfeld) and Director/Actor Ray Forschion ( Will & Grace). Jalen James enjoyed the opportunity of a lifetime while working as a Stand-in in the movie Ali, with legendary writer/director Michael Mann and observing and learning from some of Hollywood's most elite actors such as Academy Award winners Jon Voight and Jamie Foxx and one of his favorite people, Academy Award Nominee Will Smith, just to name a few. Commercial campaigns have included companies such as Coca Cola, Burger King, Ford Automobiles, SprintPCs, Bud Light, Sour Skittles and Guess among many others.
His musical influences are countless; he switches songs in his iPod from The Beatles to Juan Luis Guerra, Lenny Kravitz to Jay-Z, Aventura to Chemical Romance, Kanye West to Common and of course to some of his biggest all time influences people like Eminem, P. Diddy and the late Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur. Producers like Teddy Riley, Channel 7, Timbaland, Prince, D.R. DRE, The Neptunes and Quincy Jones just to name a few have served as foundation to the unique elements of his new style. However, his sound is incomparable. Through his music you’re able to appreciate elements of Latin, Afro, Rock, Electronic sounds, merged with a strong Hip Hop foundation. His sound is both exciting and emotional. In his lyrics he lets you into his personal struggles, triumphs, realizations and conquests encountered throughout life’s journey. His single “Mi Vida, Mi Gente” from his long awaited “Yo soy Hip Hop” record, has become a Hymn for “The People, that live check to check, I want to remind them to pursue their calling, to learn how to learn and eat from their dream”
“It’s an autobiographical type of album, we all have a story, I hope I can inspire, like others have inspired me,” he states. Born in Queens, New York and sent to Dominican Republic at a very young age, he embarked in a journey to learn his roots and the rich culture of Dominican music. His lyrical expressions include experiences from his farm life beginnings in Dominican Republic to the hardships encountered in the concrete jungle that is New York. Jalen’s story telling engulfs you in a journey so deep you feel as though you are riding shot-gun in his own pursuit of happiness and his quests to accomplish dreams that take you on an ultimate rollercoaster ride. Songs like “Madre Mia” (anthem to his mother) deal with her on-going battle and survival of a terminal illness. Destiny always seems to bring upon great opportunities for him in spite of the circumstances. “Tough times means, better times are coming, obstacles are opportunities for growth and change”, he says with a smile. Forest Gump is the character friends claim most remind them of him because of his constant face-to-face encounters with fate.
Jalen has a savvy business executive style that is visionary while still keeping an artist’s passion and perspective in play. He played a co-founder role as an executive vice president of a technology firm in the music and cellular industries where his responsibilities include business development in Europe, Latin America, and Asia. He is also responsible for the management of the music related operations of the firm that administrates the entertainment content mobility logistics and supply chain management.
He continues working with some of the biggest American companies in the entertainment and music industries as well as top Fortune 500 companies creating many passive revenue streams for his growing enterprise. He has a dedicated team working around the clock to continue the fast climb to the top.
