Jamal Monte Jeffrey Batiste is one of many musical seeds of New Orleans’s own Batiste Family. The son of David and Jackie Batiste was born on June 18, 1982 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is an exceptionally talented drummer, who has been playing drums since the age of three.
Jamal has performed in the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival since the age of five. He performed with the Batiste Brothers Band and had his own show in the Kid’s tent, Congo Square stage, Fox 8 stage, and the Acura Stage.
Jamal’s rhythmical tone is a Gumbo of Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, Latin, Gospel, Second Line, Rock, Pop, Neo Soul, Classical, Funk and Hip-hop that has inspired and mesmerized people of all ages.
Jamal is a 2006 graduate of the University of New Orleans. Earning his Bachelor’s in music, he is preparing himself to elevate his God’s given talent by way of studying, teaching, and performing.
He has performed with many well-known musicians and artists such as Leo Nocetelli(The Funky Meters), George Porter(The Funky Meters), the Wild Magnolias, Marva Wright, Goepele, Meshell N'degeocello, Eric Krasno(Soulive), New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, Professor Griffin(Public Emeny), Jovino Santos Neto, Bill Summers, and the list goes on.
