From a young age, James was submerged in music. He began playing the drums in 4th grade, and quickly became involved in everything drumming could offer him, all the way through college. Playing in State Honors Jazz Band, touring with Jazz combos, as well as local concerts in Milwaukee with his Funk Band, James' experiences have influenced him greatly.
In the mid 90's he began developing an ear for electronic music. His interest was soon perked by a particular video game; Wipeout XL. This was James' first introduction to modern electronic music. A fondness for The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Orbital, Fluke, and Underworld linked him to an ever expanding world of new styles in electronic dance music. James always kept his love for house and techno a side hobby, until 2007, when he gave DJing a shot. Within 3 months of posting his mixes online to share, James -AKA- H!GHL!FE already had a podcast on progressivehouse.com, and a residency with now du-bunked stream-fm.com. It wasn't long till James got the bright idea to try and make his own remixes and productions. His dj alias "H!GHL!FE" was known for playing both driving progressive, and laid back deep house -Both with an emphasis on rich melodies and textures. James' productions follow the same formula. His first EP, Balance Point, is a blend of progressive house with rich pads, a throbbing bass, and a straight ahead funk groove. Keep an eye out for new productions and remixes for James High in 2009.
