About me:

.. .. NPR contributor James Braly, the only two-time winner of The Moth GrandSlam, spent twenty years researching the International hit LIFE IN A MARITAL INSTITUTION, now on National Tour. Staged by the director of Pulitzer Prize Finalist Thom Pain and No Child, the show premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe, then sold-out its New York City run, delighting audiences with a hilarious, heartbreaking story of lust, love, betrayal, death and dinner parties. How is the show going? Are you adding your son's story? Just saying, but I have good instincts... it shows a human softer side of you that is important to reveal, we want to see that, behind all the other stuff. Is redemptive in a way, without manipulation. Have a great week & good writing.

"I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know any artists who pulled that off. I reply 'The Beatles did.'" -K.

Good story on Tuesday. I am trying to separate from moral judgement when I listen storytelling. I do not approve or condemn, just follow the thread and see the fiber or the tapestry it forms. Yours happen to be in a common thread which formed a particular & interesting shape.

This guy knows how to recruit fans. Three hours in a crowded bar on a Monday Night. Bad music and chubby waitresses. Seven dollars towards a beer for a guy who drinks too much beer to really appreciate it. And for what? Two silly songs. Out of tune and poorly strummed. Alright! I'll buy your fucking book! Are you happy now?! In short, thanks for coming.
