About James Corachea

I'm an overqualified classically-trained musician. I have studied piano for 14 years (DipABRSM), percussion for 2 years (Grade 8) and flute for a reluctant year (Grade 4). I graduated with a BA Hons Music degree from the University of Exeter in 2005. I'm now taking another foundation degree in Rural Environmental Management to add even more vanity letters after my name and hopefully earn money looking after nature.

I didn't start properly playing acoustic guitar until my last year of uni when the album Aerial Boundaries changed my life. I have taught myself the guitar. I play a Taylor Big Baby acoustic guitar as my main instrument. I also own a Warr Touchstyle Guitar though sadly I haven't got into it to fully enjoy being one of 15 or so people in the UK to own one.

I'm currently working on composing the final tracks for an album. In the meantime my first release 'The Confidence E.P.' is available on a pay what you want basis. Anything from nothing to a hundred billion pounds will do me fine.

Thanks for the request!

Great playing, love the Ross-esque vibe of Confidence, top stuff. Good to see someone else who appreciates Billy Mclaughlin too!

Keep up the good work

Hey man!

Yeah I remember you, I'll download your ep when I'm back home from this weekend's gigs, looking forward to it!

I read up about why you chose your surname, cool stuff!

I book gigs in Lincoln sometimes so if I can get you on a suitable bill and can offer ya travel expenses then I'll be in touch!

Cheers man, hope to play with you soon!

Hi James, thanks for the comment.

I used to help with the vocals/songwriting/performance classes at Mama Stone's, but I now have a new role booking the bands for their new venue in Exeter. They will still have vocal workshops going on though. I like your playing style, hope its going well for you.

Hi James (jinx!). Thanks for the compliments, I wrote those a while back but I still like them. I'm recording again next Monday and Tuesday for my coursework, so I'll put up the new tracks then. The course is very interesting and you get to work with a lot of great people, but it's difficult pushing everything through to a satisfactory completion, there's always more you want to do!
I've heard Mike live before (he's in Bath Spa doing a music course too) and I was very impressed, I've still not tried lap tapping yet but I'm sure I'll give it a go soon! I'm planning on sending my demos off after next week and seeing what gigs I can get around the country, so if I can find venues around you then I'll be sure to give you a message. Cheers!

cheers. Yeah it's annoying that twitter doesn't sync with everything yet. Actually twitter has locked me out! And every time I say "forgot password - please mail it to me" NOTHING gets sent to me. I wonder what's happened!

x
