Just me. Well, I suppose you can count Martin -- my guitar -- an integral part of my "band".
Influences
Everything.
How can someone not be influenced, or at least in some way affected, by everything that they come into contact with?
My songwriting, however, is specifically influenced by:
things that make me feel kinda sad.
My style of music is influenced by:
Shawn Mullins, Jewel, Beth Orton, Bob Dylan, Ryan Adams, Pete Yorn, Bright Eyes, Aimee Mann, Matchbox Twenty, Tom Petty, The Wallflowers, Counting Crows, Amy Speace, Live, Hootie and the Blowfish, Kermit the Frog and various other Muppet musicians, The Goo Goo Dolls, The Gin Blossoms, and most importantly, the talented bunch of Caffé Lena regulars who, besides being the most supportive group of people I have ever known, are amazing singer/songwriters and provide immense inspiration week after week.
I write songs. Not exactly sure why... I mostly play at open mics, but I have had many shows at various cafes, bars, coffee places, colleges, and such. I practically live at Caffe Lena in Saratoga, which has an open mic on Thursdays. I host the open mic some times. I also produce a low budget video project that revolves around the open mic. (I prefer the spelling "mic" over "mike" because Mike told me not use his name anymore and he is a rather big man and should not be messed with).
Inside the Open Mic is a project/experiment/thing conceived of by James Frederick. It is, basically, a series of short videos that showcase local songwriters who perform at Caffe Lena's open mic night in Saratoga Springs, NY. Each episode features a different songwriter and includes parts of their performance combined with an interview.

Thanks James. it went really well! I had such an awesome time. I haven't been to open mic for the last couple weeks because I've just been so busy but I'm hoping to get up there next week perhaps. Hope everything went well with your painting!
LOL. Thanks. We don't take ALL of them. We host open mic every Tuesday then play there once a month. It is a great place to play. Always busy and Ken is great!
