(PROMO HYPE!!!) James Gale, born and bred in Bristol, England, with deep West Country roots, is now based near Göteborg/Gothenburg on the Swedish west coast. Since his return to the music scene he has rapidly forged a reputation as a writer of original, sensitive and thought-provoking songs as well as a talented and charismatic singer and guitarist. - - - - - James's songs, numbering at the latest count well over 100, are for the most part solo efforts but include the fruits of several collaborations with other talented lyricists. Maybe Leonard Cohen, Dylan, Paul Simon, Al Stewart, Willie Nelson - lots really, I suppose, but I don't consciously model myself on anyone except me - unless I'm taking the piss when doing naff covers :) -

'Songs of Katrina'
The album 'Songs of Katrina' has 17 tracks on it (including my cover of 'City of New Orleans' - on the player now) All profits go to Tipitinas Foundation in New Orleans which is supporting the purchase of musical instruments for children of the city, to reseed the next generation of New Orleans’ incredible musical legacy. A review in Maverick magazine says "...this extremely good album is not just a great listen but also helps others long after you have purchased it; a wondrous album is certainly an understatement of this delightful release. (Steve Goodman's) classic City of New Orleans finds itself being covered here in such a grand fashion. Nu är det dags för 2012 års upplaga av GP Scen, tävlingen där du som västsvenskt band eller artist kan få spela i finalen på Järntorget under Way out west-lördagen den 11 augusti samt vinna studiotid med Oskar Lindberg i Svenska grammofonstudion och promotion av Skiva. Det blir femte året vi kör tävlingen och antalet medverkande har stadigt ökat för att 2011 landa på över 350. Helt fantastiskt, tycker vi. Går det att slå i år? Nu är det dags för 2011 års upplaga av GP Scen, tävlingen där du som västsvenskt band eller artist kan få delta i finalen på Järntorget under Way out west-lördagen den 13 augusti. Dessutom får vinnaren studiotid med Hans Olsson Brookes i Svenska grammofonstudion samt promotion av Skiva.
Det blir fjärde året vi kör tävlingen och förra året var antalet deltagare över 350. Helt fantastiskt! Kan vi slå det? Redan nu ligger www.gp.se/scen öppen för registrering och ni Myspace-vänner får därmed några dagars försprång gentemot andra. Gå in, läs reglerna, ladda upp låten och se till att få röster! Så ses vi kanske i augusti!
I reglerna står bland annat att ni måste vara verksamma i Västsverige, till alla er andra får jag be om ursäkt för att jag tagit er tid.
