Hello, my name's James Hester and I play the drums for a living. I consider myself lucky that I do, but luck is when preparation and opportunity meet, right? Ok, so I've worked (or am working with) Malakai, Men From Mars (that's guys from Robert Plants band, Massive Attack, Portishead, Cast - produced by John Leckie) and several other little projects. I've been lucky enough to work with Geoff Barrow (Portishead), bass player extraordinaire Damon Minchella (The Who, Weller etc..) recorded for Zane Lowe, Giles Peterson and Annie Mack at Maide Vale, played at some of the biggest venues in the UK (Brixton Academy.. in fact a lot of the Academies), Manchester Apollo, Lincoln Engine Shed.. TV - Lily Allen and Friends, Nuts TV.... Drumming wise I was taught (and still study with) Steve white, Pete Riley and Stanton Moore, to name a few - they're the main cats. I've performed at the Remo Drummer Night alongside my mate Ian Matthews (Kasabian) Chad smith, Neal Wilkinson, Jo Jo Mayer, Karl Brazil and a mega list of uber drummers - check out the video. In between times I also write for Drummer Magazine and I'm the Head of Drums at the awesome BIMM Bristol. I missed stuff out haven't I. Right then.
