James McSweeney grew up in farm-country USA before
settling on the west coast. He circled the
musical-block a long time looking for a parking place.
He spent the 80's playing edgy rock--described by San
Francisco's BAM as "Brian Eno meets the Police"--and
the 90's traveling the globe embracing musical
inspiration from a dozen cultures. All that
metamorphed into his 2002 debut, "On the Border" and
the follow-up "Perfect World (2003)[both currently
unavailable in the UK]. He also appeared on the 2003
UK compilation "Moon Over the Downs"[Super Tiny Records]
His latest release "Blue River" (available in UK
through Trailer Star Records adds a bit more instrumentation
which only serves to burnish the minimalist sound.
These are songs to be reckoned with from an artist who
is just hitting his stride.
