Jimmy - acoustic and electric guitars, steel guitar, with and without pedals, bass with and without frets, banjo, dobro, keyboards, brushes on my knees, Pro Tools 8, Dr. Sample, Dr. Groove, Reason, drainpipes, mini-disc recordings of weird moments, the birds outside my shack.
Influences
Randy Newman, George Jones. Warren Zevon, Daniel Lanois, Elvises Presley and Costello. Joni Mitchell, Marianne Faithful, Helen Merrill, Abbey Lincoln, Kitty Wells, Tammy Wynette, The Talking Heads, Conway Twitty, Bob Dylan, Carl Smith, Joan Baez, Janis Joplin, Les Paul and Mary Ford. (For now.)
A northwest native and prolific songwriter since the age of 15, Jimmy Peters soaked up the lyrical influences of his early heroes Randy Newman, Joni Mitchell and Elvis Costello and reflected them back via pop-folk compositions that have always alluded to bigger, more lush arrangements. By the time he arrived in Seattle in the mid 80's, Jimmy's musical tastes had turned southward to George Jones, Tammy Wynette and Roy Orbison.
Jimmy purchased his first multi-track recorder in 1986 and spent the next six years in his Capitol Hill bedroom, writing and recording songs that would stay in his repetoire for years to come. In 2000 Jimmy finished his first CD, Westerly, and released it to an audience of 12 friends. (It's still in high rotation.) In December 2008, he finished The Difficult Part via CDBaby.com, where it has found fans as far away as Denmark.
Since 2007, Jimmy has played the pedal steel guitar in various Seattle honky tonk bands, including The Haul Off and Smack Somebodys, The Rainieros and (currently) The Big Valley Rangers. Today Jimmy lives and works in Seattle's Beacon Hill neighborhood, where he writes and records nearly everyday. His next CD will be available on CDbaby.com (and elsewhere) in October '09.

Keep up the great work with the songs...all the best with your music:) I've been spending a lot of time in the studio lately working on my first full-length original album...so exciting:) You'll have to let me know what you think of it when it's finished, I'd love your opinion. Keep in touch! Always... Angela
