I am originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico and that is where i began my musical life at the age of 5 by picking out the theme to "Goldfinger" on the piano. Early on, I became interested in jazz thanks to my dad's boogie-woogie stylings and late night radio shows. I picked up the tenor sax for a while, also the clarinet and studied a classical repertoire until one teacher almost managed to suck the joy right out of the music. Before too long, i was playing in a wide variety of rock and jazz bands as well as orchestral and messing about with electronic music. I officially began my professional career at 14 with a weekly gig at Roma Lee's Truly Southern BBQ, where i played a piano for ribs.
Ended up in Boston, played in some R&B bands,etc... composed music for a handfull of films, and began exploring free improvised music - made three records with my piano trio: "riot trio", "they sent three henchmen", and "dull thud trio - bucket full of sin". Started up "the blue ribbons" and have been working out my songwriting jones, plus it gives me a venue in which to howl a bit. Really is a great bunch of folks in the band, please come out and see us if you get the chance.
Thank you for listening.

Thanks, James. Can't wait to actually catch you live. Talked to Mike a couple of times about coming out. I'll try to make the Toad show on the 23rd. Good luck!
Lovely to have you as an honored guest at my studio. Particularly entertaining acting as referee 'twixt you and your accordian. Thank you for some great tracks. -Jack
