Scott Thompson's career began during high school and college in musical theatre. He attended Young Harris College on a drama scholarship and had several roles in plays produced by Theater on the Square in Marietta, GA and in Atlanta.
After a three year hiatus in Colorado, where Scott learned to play guitar and began performing with some local musicians, he decided to move back to Georgia to put together a band.
JUMP IT OR DUMP IT? ....JUMP IT!
Scott and Alan Sanders formed Peachtree Station in 1995. Shortly after starting the band, they were asked to move to Florida to play a limited engagement at Billy Bob's, the largest country bar in Daytona Beach at the time. There was such an immediate response to the group's powerful harmonies, charismatic stage show and infectious personalities that they were asked to stay indefinitely, playing in Florida for a year and a half.
While in Florida, the group successfully produced and distributed their first release, a self-titled CD of their original songs. Despite strict government rules regulating radio play of unsigned artists, an overwhelming fan demand forced 98 FROG, Daytona's country radio station, to feature one of Peachtree Station's original songs on their popular "Jump It or Dump It" program.
The response to the new song was the greatest ever in the history of the program garnering over 400 calls made in less than ten minutes! The local phone company had to break through to the station to end the voting early because all the lines were jammed including those saved for emergencies. The song had an approval rating of over 98%!
PLAYING THE SUPER BOWL AND MORE
During this time, the group made several trips to play showcases for record company executives at the famed Buckboard Country Music Showcase where many signed artists had gotten their start. Upon moving home to Atlanta, Peachtree Station was asked to become the house band at the Buckboard, replacing the current house band which had been there for over 20 years.
Since then, the band has opened for artists such as Travis Tritt, Brad Paisley, Kenny Rogers, Mark Wills, Jerry Jeff Walker and Little Big Town. Peachtree Station also performs regularly for each of the two country music stations in Atlanta as well as performing with Mark Wills, Steve Cropper, John Michael Montgomery, Jeff Carson, Joe Diffie and Charlie Daniels at celebrity golf tournaments each year.
In January 2000, the band played at the Georgia Dome for the Super
Bowl and in September of 2000, performed the National Anthem at the Atlanta Braves game.
IN THE STUDIO
In March of 2000, Scott and Alan again went into the studio to record a brand new demo produced by Mark Wills. This demo showcased their hard work and determination to develop their own unique style of country music ~ featuring both Scott and Alan on lead vocals, powerful harmonies and original songs.
Unfortunately, Nashville came calling several times, but a deal was never inked much to the amazement of Peachtree Station and Scott Thompson fans everywhere. Rhubarb Jones called Peachtree Station "the best unsigned band in Atlanta" and they were named "Best Country Band - an undiscovered gem waiting for Nashville to come calling" by Atlanta magazine in their popular "Best Of" issue.
NEW HORIZONS
Scott is enjoying a very successful solo career and still playing with Peachtree Station. He now plays a variety of songs including rock, pop, oldies, Buffet and of course, country. He packs venues wherever he goes.
His next project, a CD of original songs entitled "Meant to Be" is due out June 15th, 2007. It is a compilation of songs that have become fan favorites at his shows as well as personal favorites. The new CD can be purchased at www.JScottThompson.com.
