Hi All,
My song "WHERE THE MIGHTY RIVERS MEET" was nominated for best Country Song Of The Year by IAIA (International Academy of Independent Artist) for a Golden Kayak Award.
I was very surprised and honored by this. Though I didn't win it was great to be picked for it. I was very happy that my buddy Neil w. Young won the Golden Kayak for Best Country Song Of The year with his THE COWBOY SONG.
I would like to congratulate all the nominees and especially the winners this year.
I would like to thank all those who have ever taken time to listen. Also to all the great e-mails from the many music lovers who said wonderful things about "WHERE THE MIGHTY RIVERS MEET". To all the people who have supported my singer/songwriter quest for so many years. To all of the Artist friends I have made on Myspace and KIAC Internet Radio. To the members and peers of the International Academy of Independent Artist.
I would also like to thank and share this honor with my co-writers and producers Harry Hamm (Executive Producer) and Don Weber (Music Producer and Engineer).
I would also like to thank and share this honor with the great musicians that contributed tracks on "WHERE THE MIGHTY RIVERS MEET". Geoff Landon - Harmony Vocals, Don Weber - Guitars, Russ Brunner - Dobro, Nathan Lee - Flute & Banjo, Tommy Greywolf - Fiddle, Mike Spellman - Bass Guitar and Scott Mottet - Percussion.
I would like to thank the INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY OF INDEPENDENT ARTIST for this much honored nomination.
Sincerely, Jimmy
Singer/songwriter James Stanley Howen (Jimmy to his
friends) has many years of performing both in bands
and as an acoustic artist behind him. While playing
the songs of some of the greatest singer/songwriters
in the American tradition like John Prine, Rodney
Crowell and Merle Haggard has influenced his original
music, Jimmy has found his own voice as singer and
songwriter. The sounds of Americana, Classic Country
and Southern Rock all make their marks on Jimmy's
music.
On his first full length CD, Jimmy presents a serie
of songs written by him, lyricist Harry Hamm and
producer Donny Weber. From the timeless imagery of
"Where the Mighty Rivers Meet," to the humor of
"Beside Myself" and "Some Guys Have All the Luck" and
the reflections of "I Owe it All to You" and "Too Late
to Say I Love You," Jimmy and Harry's songs cover the
emotional gamut. The mix of traditional acoustic
instruments with modern electronics reflect Jimmy's
roots in the American tradition and his openness to
new experiences and influences.....Mark Douglas Marti 6/15/05........................................................Purchase the whole album as MP3 download at......http://cdbaby.com/cd/jshowen

Hello Jimmy! I sure hope you're having a great time! We have summer, yes, it's that time of the year, but now we have sun and warm, lots of bathing in the fresh water. We have a short way to the sea, but we like better the water without salt. Just outside our window! You'll have to see that some time! Bring some Norwegian love to your family, and take care of yourself!
