“Chances are the name James Sudakow is going to be much talked about in the prog rock and fusion community shortly after the word of just how good this CD is gets out. Frighteningly good.” Sea of Tranquility, The Web Source for Progressive Rock
“James Sudakow is an extremely gifted player and has created a brilliant piece of music here.” Progressive Ears CD Reviews, 21st Century Progressive Rock
“This is an instrumental assault of the senses” Keith “MusicMan” Hannaleck, MuzikReviews.com
“James Sudakow weilds an electric violin like Jimi Hendrix did with his guitar…”Bryan Farrish Radio Promotion
“This is a CD full of creative…raunchy and raw…violin playing…and shows an artist that is taking some leaps into a musical genre that has a very limited amount of violinists. The scene could use more talents like James Sudakow creating new music.” ProGGnosis, Progressive Rock & Fusion
“James’ work with the electric violin is groundbreaking…in terms of effectively using an instrument not typically associated with rock music. James’ violin work is amazing.” RadioIndy
“This is one of the best instrumental CDs I’ve heard …” Prognaut, Progressive Music Reviews from a Fan’s Perspective
“The full picture of this album is quite unique and original – with echoes of other music…a real winner.” Gary Hill, Music Street Journal
James Sudakow is a musician with a creative and innovative approach to the electric violin and viola. Classically trained since the age of 4, he has adapted his training to radically alter the instrument's sound, capabilities, and applications. He uses heavy distortion to play both lead and riff oriented rhythm sections in much of his original progressive rock projects.
His musical influences are not violinists but rather a select group of innovative rock guitarists, specifically Jimi Hendrix, Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction), and Vernon Reid (Living Colour). He demonstrates a unique application of the electric violin / viola and Marshall JCM2000 Amplifier as heard and seen in both his studio work and high energy live performances throughout Los Angeles with several progressive rock projects. "James is one of the most creative and talented musicians in Los Angeles. It's like watching Jimi Hendrix on violin....."
