GeneralPrayer in the temple - I like it so much my knees are calloused like a camel's. Fighting the economic exploitation of the poor. My older brother's teachings. Jewish-Gentile relations. The expansion of the church beyond Jerusalem. Writing - check out my latest letter. Pay no mind to the works that have been spuriously written in my name. Whoever wrote them totally missed the point: First Apocalypse of James, Second Apocalypse of James, Apocryphon of James.
BooksThe Torah (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy); Sirach, Wisdom of Solomon, Proverbs, Job, Testament of Job, Matthew's Gospel (though I like Luke's too). I never heard of the "Q document." I'm fond of any wisdom literature, actually, but I also like the prophets - particularly Isaiah, Amos and Malachi. I also dabble in the writings of Enoch, especially his "Epistle."
HeroesMy big brother, Jesus. Abraham, Rahab, Job, the prophets and Elijah.

About me:
I'm quite a devout Jew in the service of the Messiah, my brother. I've grown up in his shadow, but I'm ok with it now. I've been looking over the Jerusalem Church since he took flight. By the way, the disagreements between Paul and I have been greatly exaggerated and Martin Luther did not give my book a just review.

Become a child sponsor today.Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress, refusing to let the world corrupt you. . . . Listen to me, dear brothers and sisters. Hasn't God chosen the poor in this world to be rich in faith? Aren't they the ones who will inherit the Kingdom he promised to those who love him? . . . Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, "Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well"—but then you don't give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?
Who I'd like to meet:
My older brother, Jesus. · · · Paul, Peter and the rest of the Apostles. · · · Martin Luther - to give him a piece of my mind! An "epistle of straw"? Come on! I'm the Lord's brother - who do you think is more likely to be right? · · · Ananus the High Priest - he thinks I'm dead. · · · The guy who worked at the laundry who let the crowd use his club on me. · · · Jude, Joses, Simon - my brothers. Check out Jude's latest book. · · · My mom, Mary (she's been staying with John the Beloved). · · · Martin Dibelius, Robert Eisenman and James Tabor - to set the record straight - I'm not the Teacher of Righteousness, I never saw myself as a messianic successor to my older brother, and I did write the letter that goes by my name (and I wrote it in pretty good Greek for a poor Galilean!). · · · Richard Bauckham, Luke Timothy Johnson, Patrick Hartin, Peter Davids, William Baker, Jacob Neusner, Bruce Chilton, Craig A. Evans, Ben Witherington, Hershel Shanks and anyone else who studies my work.

What others have written about me:
Eusebius, Ecclesiastical History 2.23.3-7
The manner of James’ death has been already indicated by the above-quoted words of Clement, who records that he was thrown from the pinnacle of the temple, and was beaten to death with a club. But Hegesippus, who lived immediately after the apostles, gives the most accurate account in the fifth book of his Memoirs. He writes as follows: 4 “James, the brother of the Lord, succeeded to the government of the Church in conjunction with the apostles. He has been called the Just by all from the time of our Saviour to the present day; for there were many that bore the name of James. 5 He was holy from his mother’s womb; and he drank no wine nor strong drink, nor did he eat flesh. No razor came upon his head; he did not anoint himself with oil, and he did not use the bath. 6 He alone was permitted to enter into the holy place; for he wore not woolen but linen garments. And he was in the habit of entering alone into the temple, and was frequently found upon his knees begging forgiveness for the people, so that his knees became hard like those of a camel, in consequence of his constantly bending them in his worship of God, and asking forgiveness for the people. 7 Because of his exceeding great justice he was called the Just, and Oblias, which signifies in Greek, ‘Bulwark of the people’ and ‘Justice,’ in accordance with what the prophets declare concerning him.

Josephus, Antiquities of the Jews 20.9.1 § 200-201
. . . when, therefore, Ananus was of this disposition, he thought he had now a proper opportunity [to exercise his authority]. Festus was now dead, and Albinus was but upon the road; so he assembled the Sanhedrin of judges, and brought before them the brother of Jesus, who was called Christ, whose name was James, and some others, [or some of his companions]; and, when he had formed an accusation against them as breakers of the law, he delivered them to be stoned: 201 but as for those who seemed the most equitable of the citizens, and such as were the most uneasy at the breach of the laws, they disliked what was done; they also sent to the king [Agrippa], desiring him to send to Ananus that he should act so no more, for what he had already done was not to be justified; . . .

Jerome, On Famous Men (De Viris Illustribus), Chapter 2.
James, who is called the brother of the Lord, surnamed the Just, the son of Joseph by another wife, as some think, but, as appears to me, the son of Mary sister of the mother of our Lord of whom John makes mention in his book, after our Lord's passion at once ordained by the apostles bishop of Jerusalem, wrote a single epistle, which is reckoned among the seven Catholic Epistles and even this is claimed by some to have been published by some one else under his name, and gradually, as time went on, to have gained authority. Hegesippus who lived near the apostolic age, in the fifth book of his Commentaries, writing of James. says "After the apostles, James the brother of the Lord surnamed the Just was made head of the Church at Jerusalem. Many indeed are called James. This one was holy from his mother's womb. He drank neither wine nor strong drink, ate no flesh, never shaved or anointed himself with ointment or bathed. He alone had the privilege of entering the Holy of Holies, since indeed he did not use woolen vestments but linen and went alone into the temple and prayed in behalf of the people, insomuch that his knees were reputed to have acquired the hardness of camels' knees." He says also many other things, too numerous to mention. Josephus also in the 20th book of his Antiquities, and Clement in the 7th of his Outlines mention that on the death of Festus who reigned over Judea, Albinus was sent by Nero as his successor. Before he had reached his province, Ananias the high priest, the youthful son of Ananus of the priestly class taking advantage of the state of anarchy, assembled a council and publicly tried to force James to deny that Christ is the son of God. When he refused Ananius ordered him to be stoned. Cast down from a pinnacle of the temple, his legs broken, but still half alive, raising his hands to heaven he said, "Lord forgive them for they know not what they do." Then struck on the head by the club of a fuller such a club as fullers are accustomed to wring out garments with--he died. This same Josephus records the tradition that this James was of so great sanctity and reputation among the people that the downfall of Jerusalem was believed to be on account of his death. He it is of whom the apostle Paul writes to the Galatians that "No one else of the apostles did I see except James the brother of the Lord, " and shortly after the event the Acts of the apostles bear witness to the matter. The Gospel also which is called the Gospel according to the Hebrews, and which I have recently translated into Greek and Latin and which also Origen often makes use of, after the account of the resurrection of the Saviour says, "but the Lord, after he had given his grave clothes to the servant of the priest, appeared to James (for James had. sworn that he would not eat bread from that hour in which he drank the cup of the Lord until he should see him rising again from among those that sleep)" and again, a little later, it says" ' Bring a table and bread, ' said the Lord." And immediately it is added, "He brought bread and blessed and brake and gave to James the Just and said to him, ' my brother eat thy bread, for the son of man is risen from among those that sleep.'" And so he ruled the Church of Jerusalem thirty years, that is until the seventh year of Nero, and was buried near the temple from which he had been cast down. His tombstone with its inscription was well known until the siege of Titus and the end of Hadrian's reign. Some of our writers think he was buried in Mount Olivet, but they are mistaken.

Epiphanius, Panarion 78.14.1-6
James also wore a plate on his head. And once during a drought he lifted his hands to heaven and prayed, and at once heaven sent rain. He never wore woolen clothing. His knees grew hard as a camel's from his continued kneeling before the Lord out of excessive piety. 2. Thus they no longer called him by his name; his name was "The Just." He never washed in a bath, did not partake in animal flesh, as I explained above, and did not wear sandals. And there is much else one could say about the man and his virtuous way of life.
     3. You see then that this house was in every respect most noteworthy. For if Joseph's sons revered virginity and the Nazarite life, how much more did that elderly honorable man guard with reverence the holy Virgin and honor the vessel in which the salvation of the human race dwelt! 4. "Does not nature itself teach you" that the man was elderly, greatly advanced in age, grown great among men, faithful in his ways, and reverent in appearance? For the gospel says that "the God-fearing man sought to divorce her secretly." 5. But James brother of the Lord and son of Joseph, died in Jerusalem, having lived twenty-four years, more or less, after the Savior's Ascension. He was ninety-six years old when he was struck on the head by a fuller with his club, flung from the pinnacle of the temple and cast down, he who had done no wrong 6. knelt and prayed for those who had thrown him down, saying: Forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing. Thus even Simeon, his cousin, the son Clopas, who was standing at a distance, said, "Stop, why are you stoning the just one? Behold, he is uttering the most wonderful prayers for you." And thus he was martyred. . .

174 Thirty-one years ago I dedicated my life, and died, the old
William Branham, and give myself of service to respect and to take
the--the filth off of the Name of Jesus Christ, and put the Word of
God back in the church. I'm thirty-one years in the service. God, help
me to live to see the day when I can see the hearts of Christians
beating as one (Amen.), and the filth of the women and the men,
and--and the churches and their creeds and things, dropped away, and a
true unadulterated church of the living God stands in the beauty of
Christ to receive Him when He comes. Let us bow our heads

Happy Easter!

40 The first time the sun rose, in Genesis, it was bringing a message that there will be life upon the earth, mortal life.
41 But this time, when the sun rose, there was a--a dual sunrising; another, Son, rising. It was the... not only s-u-n rising, it was the S-o-n had risen to bring Eternal Life to all God's promised Seed that by foreknowledge He had seen laying upon the earth.
42 No more could the--the botany life lived back there at the beginning without the s-u-n to bring it to life; no more than, today, when sons of God is upon the earth, it takes the S-o-n Light to bring them to Eternal Life, His chosen ones that He knew before the foundation of the world. He had chosen them in Himself before the foundation of the world.
43 And on Easter morning, then, in this dirt somewhere laid our bodies at that time, for we are the dust of the earth. And in Heaven, there was a Book of memory, and His attributes was in Him, knowing that because this Son of God raised, It would also raise to Life every son that was foreordained to this great time. He knew it would be. And what a more glorious sunrise that was than it was at the beginning, at time when it first dawned.
Now, on this great breaking of the Easter Seal!

The passion of Christ is the victory of divine love over the powers of evil, and therefore it is the only supportable basis for Christian obedience. Once again, Jesus calls those who follow him to share his passion. How can we convince the world by our preaching of the passion when we shrink from that passion in our own lives? On the cross Jesus fulfilled the law he himself established and thus graciously keeps his disciples in the community of his suffering. The cross is the only power in the world which proves that suffering love can avenge and vanquish evil. But it was just this participation in the cross which the disciples were granted when Jesus called them to him. They are called blessed because of their visible participation in his cross.

THE.WORKS.THAT.I.DO.BEAR.WITNESS.OF.ME_ PHOENIX.AZ FRIDAY_ 51-0413
E-11 Let's bow our heads just a moment. Our heavenly Father, we thank Thee for the witness of the Holy Spirit in this room tonight, or this tent--tabernacle. We thank Thee for it. And we believe that the report of the... Jesus being the Christ, the Son of God, is the truth. We believe it because the Bible says so. And we accept it by faith, Divine faith that's been placed in our heart by the Holy Spirit. We believe it with all of our heart. And we believe that He is the same Lord Jesus today that He was yesterday, and will be when we see Him coming. "This same Jesus that was taken up will show--so come in like manner as you see Him go into heaven." And we know that He promised to be with us in the form of the Holy Spirit plumb to the end of the world, the end of the age. He said, "These signs shall follow them that believe."
And tonight, we're thankful to be represented here, or gathered here, rather, in a group of people that represents this glorious Gospel of deliverance. After nineteen hundred years criticism, trying to destroy the Bible... Infidels has raised and fallen; many persecutions, more persecutions upon the Book than any other book in the world, but yet it's the greatest seller the world has. "Heavens and earth shall pass away but My Word shall never fail."

A Beautiful Prayer of God's Servant...

"Lord God, hear the prayer of Your children, consecrating themselves to You. We come believing. We believe you, Lord; with all of our hearts we believe You. We repent of our sins. Lord, forgive me of all of my mistakes. Forgive my ministering brethren for their mistakes. Forgive the church of their mistakes. Lord God, sanctify our hearts so deeply with love and with power and with consecration. Find favor with us, Lord. Pour out Your power. We would not do anything wrong. I believe every man in here would've made the same thing that night when it was given to speak evil to that boy. We would not use Your power for evil things. We would use it, Lord, only for Your glory to heal Your sick children.
Oh, Lord, send Your power, send it upon us, Lord, not for our will, but for the glory of God. The heathens are raging, they're saying... They're imagine vain things. But let the Holy Ghost shake this place again where we're assembled together, telling the stories of the power of the Lord God. Grant it, Lord. Let the rushing mighty wind sweep through every heart, burn out all sin, all iniquity, all doubts, all fears, and may every person become a consecrated saint unto Thee. Hear us, O Lord. May we go from here with boldness. May we go with a deep settled peace in our heart, with a real faith that'll shake mountains, to where we ask. Grant it, Lord.
Bless my ministering brethren. Bless all that's present. Bless the sick people. Here You've healed the sick. Here's the afflicted, and setting in wheelchairs standing up, those with crutches throwing them on the floor, the sick and the afflicted with their hands in the air praising You. We love You, Lord. We believe You; we know that You're God. We know that these things that's asked, You said, "When you pray, believe that you get what you ask for, and it shall be given unto thee." That's Your Word Lord; we believe it, and our prayers. Oh, thank You, Lord Jesus, for Your promises, for they're all true. They're yea and amen to each one. Hear us, Lord. Speak through us and use us for Your glory. We consecrate ourselves to Thee. We dedicate ourselves.
I dedicate myself anew over this pulpit tonight, Lord. Lord God, try me, if there's any evil in me, take it away, Lord. If there's anything that You could use me for to help Your church and Your people further to a better ministry, to a better understanding of God, here I am, Lord, speak and Your servant will hear. I'll answer, Lord, just speak and I'll do anything that You'd say to me to do.
Lord God, may I have favor in Your sight, not for self glory. You've tried me in the fires of that, Lord, but for the help of Your church, and the sake of Your people that's scattered throughout the world now. May they become together as one church, as one unit, as one... As one person may we stand in the power of the resurrection. And may You pour out Your Spirit and gifts upon Your church that'll be a outstanding thing to the world, Lord, that'll cause all men to know what they have left behind. Grant it, Lord. We give these prayers to You for answer, believing that You'll do it, in the Name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen."

20th Century Prophet

"Love should govern the home. Love is the greatest force that was ever put into the power of man. A--a home that's not disciplined by love is not much of a home. If the husband and wife doesn't solemnly love each other, they cannot trust each other. That's why I think that instead of resting our faith upon some emotion (which is all right) or some gift (which is all right), like shouting, speaking with tongues, or with other things that we take for--saying that we have the Holy Spirit when we do this... Those things are all right. But if we would come back to the principle, love first, and then those things, I think our church would progress a lot faster, if we would get God first; and God is love."

Again thank you for taking the time to enlighten me on this subject. I appreciate all the knowledge I can learn from any who have something to offer. Thank you vert much for that refreshing insight. It was very curious to me. I know a lot of Bible Thumpers and none of them even knew of you. But, anyway thanks for the love and for taking the time to give such a vivid account so I may understand better. i read about you in a book called (I think) Roselyn. It held interesting theories, including that Paul himself killed you at the temple. It was a good book however. Thanks tho, I am a writer and like to talk. SO I will try and stop now.
