Tim James (born 1984, Palm Springs) is an American trumpeter. Taking up the trumpet at the age of eleven under the guidance of teachers William Bollech and Daniel Burnard and later under Michael McDowell, James pursued undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater, with Frank Hanson. After relocating to Platteville, WI he continued his studies with David Cooper. Much of his experience has come from outdoor marching ensembles including the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps, but he has also acquired experience in various chamber ensembles, wind and symphony orchestras. Also, he has played a fundamental role in the creation of several New Orleans Brass Bands. He is beginning to establish a career as an artist who possesses flexibility in repertoire and depth of tone. As the winner of the UW-Whitewater Concerto Competition, James performed the Kennan Sonata with the UW-Whitewater Symphonic Wind Ensemble. He will be entering graduate studies in the Fall semester, 2009.

Hello! Wanted to let you know that I recently finished a jazz record of standards with Kate Ceberano, and we've set up a Myspace page for the album. The record features Peter Erskine, Alan Pasqua, and Tom Warrington. I think you'll like it! Head on over to www.myspace.com/bittersweetalbum to check out a pre-release track...Thank you! p.s. first 100 pre-orders of the album get a signed copy! www.bittersweetthealbum.com
Pretty basic stuff, prepared piece (which had to be Confirmation by Charlie Parker), Sightreading, and improvisation. But it doesn't matter what they had me do, all I know is, for some reason, all my skill left me as I walked in the door. But meh. I can always see about creating a combo, and there's always next year.
Hahahaha, I've never heard Wynton Marsalis introduced as "this guy". That's like calling Arturo Sandoval "some schmendrick". Nonetheless, it was funny. And you're absolutely right. Any kind of music can be moving. Bravo to you for playing it well. As for me, I just totally blew my audition for Jazz at my college...
No, myspace hasn't been working well for me lately... I wonder why... But that's awesome! I agree, it is best to be proficient in all areas. But surely there's a style that you wish to delve yourself most deeply into. No one can be an expert in everything.
Hey, thanks for adding me as a friend! I'd love to listen to your music, but Myspace apparently does not want me to... odd. But hey, it's always cool to meet more Wisconsin trumpeters!
SON LISTOS...for the one and only, Tim James, American trumpeter. Yeah, I saw him once, last concert, you know? Front row center, because I'm weird like that.
Last...concert...
Congratulations, Tim.
...and, technically, it's estamos listos, but we won't pay attention to that.
Thanks for the request and for finding us...Scouts - nice. Keep in touch, and until our paths' cross - enjoy the music and drop a line anytime. Enjoy the music, it's the soundtrack to our lives. The JBB
Yeah it's Tim! I see you've gotten a hold of a few of us Columbusits...(is that what we are called?) hummm...well it's nice seeing/talking to you again.
