“One of the finest male jazz singers on the West Coast, Davis is an entertainer of the old school, an eager to please performer who can belt the blues, croon American Songbook ballads with a warm, burnished bass, and deliver Stevie Wonder hits with soulful authority.” Mercury News - Andy Gilbert
“Davis’ dark, dense ‘Round Midnight’ rivals Eckstine’s silken splendor.
Most impressively, he manages to elevate Lionel Richie’s ‘Hello’ to the same lofty plateau.” Jazz Times - Christopher Loudon
“At the end of Davis’s set the crowd rose as one in a rousing standing ovation.” Daily Republic - Tony Wade
Jamie Davis holds a position amongst the pantheon of great male vocalists with a full deep baritone voice that has been paired with some of the world’s most famous talent.
Davis was named the ‘chocolate baritone’ by Sir Michael Parkinson, the BBC’s arbiter of important international jazz, after Jamie’s performance in London with the BBC’s sixty-four piece Orchestra and Big Band. Clint Eastwood enthused by Jamie’s performance at the Monterey Jazz Festival said “...Jamie Davis is one of my favorite singers.”
In the past five years, Jamie has produced three solo CD’s, performed at Monterey, Dubai, Sacramento, Aspen, Cheltenham, Edinburgh jazz festivals and the closing ceremony at this years Shakespeare Music Festival in Lake Tahoe. Jazz clubs include Yoshi’s and The Rrazz Room in San Francisco, Dizzy’s and Blue Note in New York and aboard Holland America jazz cruises.
Davis's television performances include: ‘Parkinson’ in UK, Sweden and Australia, The Jerry Lewis Telethon in Las Vegas and ‘60th Anniversary Show’ with The HRTa Big Band in Zagreb, Croatia. Concerts for BBC Radio’s 2 ‘Friday Night Is Music Night’ and ‘Big Band Special’ were broadcast live and on digital.
The Count Basie Orchestra gave Jamie the opportunity be ‘on the road’ with one of the greatest big bands as their lead vocalist for three years. Davis reflects, “Having all that sound behind you is just amazing. You’ve got to ride that current.”
Jamie’s full rich, deep baritone voice was tapped to narrate ‘A Time to Remember,’ a docudrama which won the ‘Black American Independent Filmmakers Award’ in 1999.
Davis’ solo CDs, ‘It’s All About Love’, ‘It’s A Good Thing’ and the newly released ‘Vibe Over Perfection’ are receiving critical acclaim. The last two recordings on the Unity Music label reunited Jamie with members of the Count Basie Orchestra and some of Los Angeles’ finest instrumentalists. ‘It’s A Good Thing’ was chosen as ‘Album of the Week’ on the digital radio station Thejazz.com in December 2007 and is currently on the in-flight audio programs of British Airways, Scandinavian, Aer Lingus and British Midland. ‘Vibe Over Perfection’ entered the US Jazz Charts at No. 26 and is played on radio stations in the US, Canada, UK, Russia, Europe, Scandinavia and Asia.

Hello Jamie Davis Thank you for being a positive force in this world.

* Each new jazz "friend" is important to us. So, we appreciate your add very much.
If you are selling your music online you know that the competition is deadly. You must use every bit of advertising you can afford, and you must advertise to the right people. This might help ...
We have a "sister site" with over 250 jazz playlists on it. Each day hundreds of jazz fans come to this site to listen to music. These people are music buyers and we can direct them to your main web page, your MySpace page, your CD Baby page or anywhere else you want them. You get a 2 Liner ad, a standard listing and a Special MySpace Friend listing.
They all run for 6 months and the cost is $48 (only $2 a week) Or, try 3 months for $30. This is very affordable and it reaches the right people.
Have a look and if you are interested we can set up your ads within 48 hrs.
Yo Jamie, Glad to hear you will be over for some gigs. Looking forward to having a blast with you if the date/dates come off. All the best Bryan Corbett
