David Wilcox, Paul Simon, Indigo Girls, Kristen Hall (I go way back to before the Sugarland days), Dar Williams, Richard Shinldell, Annie Gallup, The Subdudes, They Might Be Giants, BNL, Tracy S Feldman, and many, many more...
Sounds Like
People have said David Wilcox, James Taylor, Jim Croce, Vince Gill, Lyle Lovett, or "the guy from Rascal Flatts"...or this:
..
Jamie Purnell's music is like a reassuring arm around the shoulder from a good friend.
With a sure-handed fingerstyle guitar, and a warm, rich voice remeniscent of James Taylor or Jim Croce, Jamie reminds us that, though life may not always be as good as it seems, neither is it that bad.
In October 2003, Jamie released his debut album. "Two Different Towns" is full of strong songs and rich acoustic textures. The CD features guest appearances by Jonathan Byrd, Robert Griffin, and Ray & Lindsay Tims.
Since 2003, Jamie has played local and regional stages including Cat's Cradle, Eno River Festival, The Evening Muse (Charlotte), The Open Eye, Cafe Driade, and The Blue Horn.
Along the way, Jamie has garnered unsolicited praise from songwriting luminaries such as David Wilcox, Cliff Eberhardt, Kate Campbell, Anje Duvakot, Devon Sproule, and Andrea Stople.
Plans are underway for a follow-up CD. "Reconciliation" will be produced by Carrboro's own Chris Wimberly and is tentatively scheduled for release in 2010.

Hi, Jamie - It was great meeting you last night at Gulf Rim, really enjoyed performing there and hearing your music live - great stuff. Let's do a gig together soon.
1) Myspace has this nifty little utility that lets me invite anyone in my Google address book. 2) Amazing tunes.....but I expected nothing less. 3) Those are the Daniel Lee tracks. I'd love to finish a CD of those, but he's moved to Atlanta. 4) My Caps made up a point...but that won't be enough. 5) Definitely, next time you're on the northern HIGHway (apologies to BNC), gimme a ring. --C
