Jamie Rickett has been hard at work during the last 18 months in her Melbourne, Florida studio; writing, performing, recording, mixing and producing an instrumental rock guitar-based record. Last fall, her demo tapes for the album attracted the attention of Guitar Player magazine which wrote about them in their September 2007 issue.
Production on the album was finished in early March 2008 and the record is called Summer's Crown. Inspired by lead guitarists such as Steve Vai and Joe Satriani and drawing on her lifelong love of the piano, classical orchestration, composition and melody, Jamie has truly created an album and a sound all her own.
Jamie's composition, Rhapsody for Jam Band, was recently broadcast (5/13/08) in it's full 18 minute length version on Fretnet, Australia's only guitar music radio show, broadcasting on PBS FM 106.7 in Melbourne Australia on Tuesday evenings and hosted by Steve Passiouras.
The archive of the 5/13/08 Fretnet broadcast, which included new works by Joe Satriani and John 5 as well, is available to listen to online.

Two other of Jamie's songs from the record (Merry Go Round and Waterfall) were recently featured on the France/Belgium radio program Rock Your Brain.
In recognition for her 2008 album, Summer's Crown, Jamie Rickett was recently presented the Excellence in Audio Recording award by Brevard Live Magazine and show-biz guru Chris Long during the 2008 Brevard Live Music awards held at Melbourne Florida's Henegar Center for the Arts.
Jamie has been working very hard recently, lovingly and methodically scoring out the music for Summer's Crown in anticipation of upcoming live performances of this material and her subsequent releases. She has just about finished her follow-up to Summer's Crown as well. While working on this new music by day, Jamie has kept herself busy at night sitting in at jam sessions around town, sometimes up to five nights a week playing rock, classic rock, blues and jazz. A self-confessed jam junkie she has easily performed at over 400 jam sessions around the Brevard area of Florida since January 2006 (as of June 2009). She has made alot of great friends along the way.
So, what's a girl to write next? To follow up a rock-guitar based album with? Hmm? Write another guitar-based record? Hardly. The correct answer would be two large symphonies, of course. Those who know Jamie well will not be surprised. They know that in addition to performing passionate guitar solos and writing "rock" albums, she also plays classical piano and studied orchestral composition and film scoring (with a heavy emphasis on conducting) at Berklee College of Music. In fact, the entire "guitar based" Summer's Crown was written on the piano. The two symphonies are very near completion and Jamie expects to complete this task by summer's end. After that???...
A film score? Very likely. Conduct Gustav Mahler's 2nd Symphony?...With her intimate knowledge of that score, most assuredly :) Another guitar-based album?..."Of course!" she smiles...

Hey Jamie!!! Thanks so much for the friend request. I'm happy to accept. Man your music is incredible. Very nicely done. Your recording is excellent too. You must spend an enormous amount of time at it because I know that's what it takes to make it sound like that. I have mostly acoustic based music on our music page so check us out. Thanks Jamie.
