BIRTH OF THE PRINCESS CONFERENCE, BY REV. MELISSA :
"Over a year ago the Lord began to deal with me concerning our young ladies. As an educator and minister I am daily confronted with various scenarios, such as the young girl that dropped out due to an unexpected pregnancy, the young girl who won't be able to attend college because it is not an option due to her family's income, the young girl that mortifies her body with eating disorders and mutilations in an effort to fit in or meet the standard, and the young girl who has suppressed the haunting memories of past sexual and physical abuse. I felt a clear call to design a ministry that would address the body, mind, and spirit of a princess and help each girl grow into the woman of purpose she is designed to be. Through much prayer and suplication I sensed an urgency to put into action the burden God was placing in my heart. This year we will be celebrating our 5th Annual Princess Conference! We thank God for setting things in motion and allowing us to raise up princesses who will shake the world with a passion, purpose, and power for Christ!"

About me: On behalf of JAM Ministries and our Princess Conference Board we would like to thank you for making our "Fashioned 2009" Princess Conference a success! We had about 300 girls from Pasadena, Waco, Houston, Galveston, Snyder, Abilene, Lufkin, Dallas, Carollton, Gainesville, and many more places in attendance! Friday night, Mrs. Rebecca Contreras challenged the young girls to dream big despite their past situations or life experiences. Countless girls and women alike expressed through our conference follow-up that they were encouraged and could identitfy with her story. They too felt that God could heal, restore, and build them up for greatness! Conference Worship was led by Veronica Soto and Band of Braeswood A/G in Houston, Texas. Pastor Veronica specifically wrote a song entitled "I am Fashioned" for this year's conference. They did a superb job leading us in worship and preparing the atmosphere for what God was going to do.
Our Saturday sessions were so insightful! Mrs. Bobbie Roberts, Middle School Session Speaker, inspired the girls to not live a life of mediocrity, but to be confident in who God created them to be. Mrs. Cecilia Santini, High School/College Session Speaker, educated the young girls on common signs of depression, cutting, and low self-esteem and challenged the girls in how to respond to peers and friends who are facing the above types of crisis. A returning favorite, Mrs. Melissa Lopez, our General Session Speaker, touched on a very important topic--"Authentic or Knock-Off Version: God's Ultimate Design for Love." Through her engaging and interactive presentation, Melissa brought an awareness to the many distortions the enemy puts before our young ladies in the area of love and sex. Her presentation was much needed and helped remind the girls of their value and self-worth.
After an afternoon of games, a Fashion Show, and some great giveaways, the conference wrapped up with a closing session, led by Dr. Nina Rios-Doria of Loving You Ministries. Dr. Nina spoke to the ladies about the "5 Things to Remember as a Princess."
A big thank you to our conference team and staff for their dedication and to all the Pastors, Youth Pastor's wives, leaders, and chaperones who gave of their own time to bring their girls to this event. And to our "daughters" . . . YOU ROCK!! You made this conference what it was. We love you and will continue to pray for you. Remember . . . you are FASHIONED!!
Get ready we will see you in June 2010!!!

Who I'd like to meet: J.A.M. MINISTRIES PRINCESS CONFERENCE HOST:
Rev. Melissa Alfaro was born into the ministry as the daughter of a Pentecostal pastor in the small town of Graham, Texas. At the age of 15, Rev. Upon her High School graduation, she attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas and earned her Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies. Soon after, she enrolled in the Graduate School at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas where she earned her Master of Arts in English. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Rhetoric at Texas Woman’s University. She served as a Youth Pastor and Evangelist pouring into the lives of a diverse audience through youth conventions, camps, and discipleship programs. She is a certified minister by the North Texas District of the Assemblies of God. She has also contributed to the Gulf Latin American District and various non-denominational ministries.
