Books, jogging (slowly and not very far), local/regional bands, science fiction and fantasy, community theater (on stage and backstage)
Music
Red Wanting Blue, Carbon Leaf, Scarlet Kings, Dulahan, Fin Tan, Great Big Sea, The Rise and Fall, Semi-Precious Weapons, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Barenaked Ladies...there's really no common thread, don't go looking for one.
Movies
A Thousand Clowns, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, Heathers...oh, you mean something you've heard of? Um, American President, Mystery Men, High Fidelity, Grosse Point Blank, School of Rock
Television
Aaron Sorkin is a god. Anything he did (Sports Night, West Wing, Studio 60.) Joss Whedon is a god, anything he did (Buffy, Firefly) except Angel; I don't do vampires. Love Monkey, Dresden Files. Yeah, I'm big on stuff that got cancelled....
Books
Ricochet River by Robin Cody (the movie sucked); What's Eating Gilbert Grape? by Peter Hedges (the movie ruled, but the book was still better); anything by Neil Gaiman; The Repairman Jack books by F. Paul Wilson ("Bloodline" is the latest); anything, pretty much, by F. Paul Wilson; The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher (the show was good, the books are better); "Carpe Demon" et al. by Julie Kenner (a Buffy-like character fighting demons as a soccer mom in the suburbs) Janet Evanovich, Jonathan Kellerman, Somerset Maugham (to add a bit of class)
Heroes
Bruce Springsteen, Al Franken, John Cusack, anybody who says to hell with the world and reaches out for the brass ring, whether or not they have a chance in hell.
About me: I like horror books better than horror movies, because if I don't want to imagine something I don't have to.
I'm mildly afraid of crowds, so I do regional bands and smaller venues, not stadium shows.
I'm painfully shy until I get comfortable, then I'm a holy terror!
I'm a librarian at a small-city public library, and I used to dye my hair blue and purple, so the kids would all know I'm cool. Now I own my own house, and actually CARE if I get colored dye on my pretty tiles, so I don't dye my hair anymore.
If I could make money part-time by acting and part-time by writing, it would be my dream job even if it carried no insurance or paid leave.
Who I'd like to meet: Not too many famous people, as I have met some and they were something of a disappointment; I'll take my illusions.
The exceptions have uniformly been authors, especially genre authors, they're cool.
Hi! Just wanted to make sure all my friends know that my new erotic horror novel THE 13TH is now in stores everywhere! I hope you'll check out this debauched and demonic horror ride!
There's even a website devoted just to the book, with an interactive map of the places and characters at www.the13th-horror.com.
Edward Lee called THE 13TH "A double-barreled shotgun blast of macabre entertainment -- an expert amalgamation of grotesquerie, eroticism, mystery, and pitch-black occult horror that no fan of the genre can miss."
And Gary A. Braunbeck said, "John Everson's The 13th is the first out-and-out horror novel in a long while to actually scare the **** out of me while reading it. It's stylish, extremely well-written, filled with richly-drawn characterizations, and boasts a labyrinthine plot worthy of Umberto Eco. Trust me -- this one will fry your nerves and break your heart."

Hi! Just wanted to make sure all my friends know that my 2nd horror novel SACRIFICE is now in stores everywhere, including Amazon.com! I hope you'll check out this debauched and demonic horror ride! Here are a couple reviews it's gotten so far:
“SACRIFICE is a full frontal assault on your senses. It is a dark, brutal, bloody and terribly frightening book. Everson went deep into some dark abyss to bring this book to the light of day.... I highly recommend SACRIFICE.” —Famous Monsters of Filmland
“John Everson manages in SACRIFICE to dispense buckets of blood, provide edgy perversity, and walk the tenuous tightrope of horror and sex without falling: It’s rather an amazing feat.” –Hell Notes
Wow, really??? That's flattering. What about it made you think of me? One of the reasons I liked it so much was because I don't think he's very much like me lol. I was Fred at the preview show last summer, though, and really liked it. I was *hoping* for Bob because I've never gotten to play a sad sack, but I'm very happy with Fred. Were you cast?
Oh yah, they write some good ones. Thanks for listening to it. We play a few of their songs, to show them support. Hopefully we play a show together sometime
i kinda liked the snow, but i've seen enough by now. i did bring my cat back! i've had her since she was a baby, but had to leave her till i was able to bring her. i'm sure there will be many photos to come!
Nope, I don't know that story. You can tell me today; I'm gonna swing by the theater at some point. I wanna see the whole show again but can't afford it, so I think I'm gonna pop by toward the end to sorta just say hi and maybe see if they'll let me watch the end.
Russell's not my friend on here, if you're worried about it getting seen lol. (I don't even know if he's on here.) I heard about Burt's review...WTF?? Huge disservice. I know Saul contacted Burt. I still think he should contact Russell too.
