THE VOMIT PINATA PARTY is live on the air THURS april 16 from 11pm-1am in full on hard-psych/heavy-prog/power-fuzz mode!
of the late 60s-early 70s era only. the only REAL era for that sort of thing.
all killer, no filler. and a completely different playlist than my psych/prog show from a month or so back, in case you're keeping score at home.
I SUGGEST INGESTING COPIOUS AMMOUNTS OF DRUGS BEFORE AS WELL AS DURING THE SHOW. i know i will be doing so....
95.
9 on the fm dial or WWW.KAOSRADIOAUSTIN.ORG streaming live and/or archived for your downloadables.
Overall, I'd say my favorite is 'Sad Wings of Destiny', with 'Stained Class' being a VERY close second. I love every single note on both of those records. I also love 'Sin After Sin', but for some reason (I'm not quite sure why) it's always seemed less cohesive as an album to me than the other early ones, even there's not a bad track on it... (the absence of Les Binks, perhaps?). I would agree that 'British Steel' is a bit overrated, but it's still a good record, and one cannot overstate its importance as far as the band's career goes. Obviously 'Unleashed in the East' is classic... I really love that whole period between 'Sad Wings' and 'Screaming for Vengeance', when they were putting out a record every year (they even put out 2 in '79). They really seemed to be on fire, and the songs and production, especially on 'Sad Wings' and 'Stained Class', were very creative, ambitious, and just fucking epic as fuck. Oddly, I do not own 'Rocka Rolla'...
