    Français.. Jan de Haas, né en 1962 à Bruxelles s'intéresse très jeune à la musique et particulièrement aux percussions. En 1979 il termine ses études à l'Académie de Musique et reçoit la médaille. Il poursuit ses études musicales durant 3 ans au "Berklee College of Music" à Boston, jusqu'à l'obtention, en 1982, du "Performance Diploma". Là-bas il accompagne des musiciens américains comme Tony Dagradi, Phil Wilson, Dave Kikoski, Makoto Ozone et bien d'autres encore..... Sa vie professionnelle débute au cours de l'année 1981 quand, lors d'un séjour en Belgique, il est engagé quelques mois comme batteur dans l'orchestre de la BRT sous la direction d'Etienne Verschuren. L'année même de son retour des Etats-Unis il participe, avec son groupe, au concours "Jazz Hoeilaart" où le groupe gagne le 1er prix, c'était en 1982... Depuis lors et sans interruption, il accompagne de nombreux artistes belges et étrangers parmi lesquels : Chet Baker, Toots Thielemans, Philippe Catherine, Steve Houben, Richard Rousselet, Jacques Pelzer, Charles Loos, Michel Herr, Erwin Vann, Pirly Zustrassen, Jack Van Poll, Eddie Daniels ,Rick Margitza ,Jerome Richardson ,Nathalie Loriers etc... Il participe étalement à plusieurs enrégistrements, notamment avec Guy Cabay, Paolo Radoni, Diederik Wissels, Jean-Pierre Gebler ,J.R. Monterose, Ali Ryerson etc..... Il enseigne au Conservatoire d'Anvers .Depuis 1994, il est leader de son propre groupe où il joue du vibraphone et des percussions... Nederlands.. Jan de Haas ,in Brussel geboren op 1/6/62 , had al sinds jonge leeftijd interesse voor slagwerk. Hij nam les aan de muziek academie en behaalde de regeringsmedaille . .. In 1979 trok hij naar Amerika om er in Boston gedurende drie jaar te studeren aan het befaamde Berklee College of Music. Hij volgde er o.a. theorie,arranging,drums,vibrafoon,samenspel,analyse en kreeg "cum laude" zijn "Performance Diploma"... Met zijn eigen groep won hij de eerste prijs van jazz Hoeilaart 1982. Verder heeft hij vele nationale en internationale artiesten begleid: Toots Thielemans,Chet Baker,Randy Brecker,Mike Mainieri,Phillippe Catherine,Slide Hampton,Eddie Daniels,Bert Joris,Jack Pelzer,Diederik Wissels,Deborah Brown,Nathalie Loriers en nog vele anderen. Hij speelde ook in het B.R.T Jazz orkest o.l.v Etienne verschuren. Als leraar is Jan de Haas actief aan het conservatorium van Antwerpen. Onder eigen nam nam hij 2 CD’s op aan de vibrafoon.Als sideman heeft hij meegespeeld op tientallen CD’s. .. English.. Jan de Haas started playing percussion at a young age. After graduating from music school with a first price he attended Berklee College of Music from 1979 to 1982 where he got his performance diploma “cum laude”. In that period he started playing with people like Dave Kikoski, Phil Wilson, Tony Dagradi, Makoto Ozone, Jan Jarczyk among others... Back in Europe in 1982 he won the first price with the Jan de Haas Quartet on the “Jazz Hoeilaart” contest and worked for the Belgian radio orchestra. He has been playing with Toots Thielemans, Chet Baker, Philippe Catherine, Eddie Daniels, Steve Houben, Diederik Wissels, Nathalie Loriers among others and recorded over 20 cd’s as a sideman and two as a leader where he plays vibes, marimba and percussion... Several tours have led him to Japan, Syria, Libanon, Kuweit, France, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, Canada and so on.
