Interests

  • General

I'm interested in politics, law, psychology, music, art, pop culture, the intersection of all of the above, reading, writing, blogging, and causing trouble for the political establishment.

  • Music

Music is life. The proper soundtrack is essential to set the tone for the day or the event -- even if the event is just walking to work or cleaning the kitchen. I am testing out last.fm's playlist feature now, since apparently Playlist.com is having legal issues. Let me know what you think.

  • Movies

    Love 'em.

  • Television

I don't watch much television, because frankly, I have better things to do with my time...or at least more pressing things. Still, I will generally try to catch Countdown with Keith Olbermann and The Rachel Maddow Show most nights, and I like to watch The Daily Show and The Colbert Report when I have time.

  • Books

If music is life, books are food for me. I won't attempt to list them all here, because there are just too damn many of them (all over my apartment).

I may post here or on my blog from time to time about books I am particularly in love with at the moment, like Naomi Klein's The Shock Doctrine or Glenn Greenwald's Great American Hypocrites -- both of which I highly recommend, in case you had any doubts.

  • Heroes

Thomas Jefferson, Martin Luther King, Jr., Nelson Mandela, Gandhi, Albert Einstein, Edward Abbey, Abbie Hoffman, Hunter S. Thompson, Dorothy Parker, the Iraqi journalist who threw his shoe at alleged president George W. Bush, and all the people who show up at town hall meetings to support health care reform.

Hey Jane, thanks for the kind words. It's good to know you dig it as much as we do.
We're still fairly new but when we do our first tour I'll make sure Colorado is on the date list just for you :) -M-bass

Hey, girl! I'm good, how about yourself?

I've been keeping pretty busy with work and whatnot! The weekend comes and I just use it to recharge my batteries! Hubby and I are doing great, so all and all, things are awesome!

So tell me... What do you think of our new president? I'm interested in your opinion!

    Ha-ha! This is funny!

Girl, that's all so cool! I really like your style. I wish I was more artistic. When I get inspired, I can write a mean essay, but lately nothing has inspired me. Things are so gray lately. I mean, Nelson and I are doing great, but everybody around is not. Almost feel guilty being happy, you know? Maybe I should paint too. Release some stress!

My problem was with my mother in law who didn't quite know how to handle her son being married. It was the first time she visited so it was bound to be awkward. We'll see how it turns out next time.

Yes, definitely let me know when you finish your website.
I am already a fan of your work, girl!

Awww! Thanks, JANE! Everything is much better now! I guess, sometimes you just have to weather the storm. It's annoying how all of these quotes are almost always right. LOL!

    How's your art coming along?

Hey, Jane! How are you? Nelson says hi, too!

I was so happy when he won! After Ohio, I knew we had won, but I didn't celebrate until CNN called it for Obama.
I cried so much, but from happiness!

    We'll see how everything goes.
I think they will make Obama's life difficult, but he's what we need! I look forward to talking to you about this!

By the way, I'm jealous you're in Chicago! You're lucky! Let me know how that goes! Have fun, Jane and take care! KEEP IN TOUCH!

Better for our country and our pockets? Need I say more, people?! Ok, I will! Vote for Obama*Biden!
  • Oct 24 2008 12:15 AM

    Make your own judgment.

Who do you want deciding on your future? Psst! DO SOMETHING! Choose hope over fear!

    Jane,

I am worried. I can't believe that McCain and Palin are letting this happen. They are putting us years behind! Racism and prejudice are still very much alive in this country, but in a more subtle way, and they are probing those people to revolt, almost. I am scared for Obama, I am scared for our country and our people.

Is it very much like the Nazis? YES! They are finding a scapegoat to blame the meltdown on! You know that the reason Hitler started the Holocaust was because the Jews and other unwanted people were an economic drain, so they had to be contained! Will it ever get there? Probably not... But I never thought that in America, the land of the free, the land of liberty and justice for ALL, we would be seeing parallels in ideologies with the Nazis.

I just hope people see past these games, because we're better than that. We have history to learn from.
So until I die, I will spread the message of peace and freedom, because I appreciate my rights!

Take care, Jane, and keep fighting for the good guys! We need more people like you!

I can't believe how the McCain/Palin campaign has taken this country back by separating us using racist and discriminating tactics. How can we think that all Arab people are terrorist? How can we think that all Muslim people are terrorist? It is sad to see our own people try so hard to sound so ignorant. Is this the country that John McCain wants? Is someone who starts rumors and slanders his opponent causing a great divide in the American public someone who really puts America first? What will happen when Obama wins? How are these people going to react? I really thought we couldn't take another George Bush, but McCain is worse. I can't believe how hard him and Palin have tried to use people's own ignorance to gain more votes.

THE ONLY WAY TO BEAT IGNORANCE IS WITH KNOWLEDGE! ON NOVEMBER 4TH, GO OUT AND VOTE FOR WHAT'S RIGHT!
  • Sep 30 2008 1:17 AM

Do you really want to take your chances with Mccain as our next president? Voting for this man is the most irresponsible thing we could do as Americans. Choose hope over fear.
Choose Obama over Mccain! For freedom, for peace, for prosperity!

You know, Jane... I wish she had been someone that we could look up to as women, but she is so sorry. I can't believe that she's willing to step up to be VP and eventually President of this country, in the state that we find ourselves, when she knows very well she wouldn't know what to do. I just hope the American people see right through her. I hope they see through the fact that the Republicans have done all they can to keep her from being interviewed, because they know how much of an idiot she really is.

Oh, and thank you for noticing! Nelson said hi back!

I can't believe how celebrated this woman has been. I can't believe that she is allowing people to place their hopes and dreams on her when she can't even answer a question so vital to all of us about our failing economy.
    She is a disgrace!
