That seems to depend on what I'm singing. I've received comparisons to Joni Mitchell and Judy Collins when I sing folk, and Diana Krall, when I do jazz, Anne Murray when I do country.
Take a cattle rancher’s daughter from the West Coast of the US, add university degrees in literature and music, transplant her to New England and you’ll end up with a singer/songwriter/guitarist with a unique musical voice.
Raised in a musical family on traditional country, Appalachian folk, and gospel music, and trained in classical and jazz, Jane has sung everything from Barbara Allen to Ain’t Misbehavin and to La Boheme and back again.
Jane’s own award-winning songs cover a wide variety of topics with a contemporary flair that incorporates those influences of folk, pop, swing, and country. Her literary background and ear for the music of words leaves her lyrics tight and well constructed with hooks and rhyme and memorable, melodic choruses.

“I thoroughly enjoyed listening to you yesterday at Cafe Ziba in Acton (MA). And I don't think I said enough to you about impressed I was with your voice. I'm hardly a music expert, but I know a clear and beautiful voice when I hear one. Even more, though, I appreciated your sense of humor and obvious pleasure in singing and storytelling. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us!” Jim Ware, Berkeley, CA
Your kind words are greatly appreciated Jane!! It was a true pleasure to hang out with you and Gayle last tuesday and I can't wait to hear the next Jane Fallon epistle.
Thank you so much! It was great to see you there, and I was only sorry to have missed the chance to say hello and meet your husband. Isn't that a fantastic performance space? The acoustics... yow! I really appreciate you coming out. Hope to see you soon - best wishes, Kate
I was listening to "Somewhere West". Must be a new song, cause I've never heard you do it before. This is a fine song that is essentially bluegrass at the core. Jane does bluegrass. I'll be! -RE
Jane, thank YOU for stopping by! Your song last night was as warm and loving as any hug and squeeze, and I was touched. Just as sweet as chocolate and raspberry cake, and enough to carry with me down along the road. I'll be missing you and missing y'all down South, and feeling dizziness like the little stars that float around the heads of cartoon characters who have dozens of lipstick marks all over their faces. Thanks for singing me that song and plying me with all the sweets. --Ellis
It was a really great evening. I've done the we've all done the barroom thing enough times to manage. There were plenty of folks listening. I didn't get a chance to try the cake but I heard it was good!
Beautiful playing, singing and cake-baking last night Jane... I can't wait to hear your next CD - I just know it will be nothing short of magical! XO, Lori

Hello Jane, Thank you for your very kind comment. I enjoyed hearing your song of the season last night at E.U. You have a very nice way about your songwriting and singing. A breath of fresh air. -Peace and Music, -Tom
Paul and I really enjoyed hearing you at Ichabod's last Friday night. No better way to spend Halloween. It was all treat and no tricks though. You have a pleasing quality to your voice that is best heard in person. Hope to see you around - perhaps at the PCA as you mentioned.
Thanks for the add, Jane, and for your help in spreading the word about the Taunton River Folk Festival www. tauntonfest. org) and keeping live music alive!
