TRANSMITTING defies a genre. TRANSMITTING is avant-garde jazz and poetry, automatic surrealism, political and scientific, dreamy and human, at once raw and beautiful. Music and poetry that is as accessible and fun as it is dark and philosophical. Their depth commands attention and inspires the audience to realization. It's truly an experience to witness their spontaneous acts of courage; especially being that half their set is improvised, the other half is as alive and open as it is planned and refined. The sound of an evening spent under the spell of Transmitting is unforgettable.

This original New York City band is comprised of :
* the poetry and singing of Jane LeCroy; completely exemplifying the alphabet at its best. Her powerful stage presence is as meaningful as it is wonderful.
*Tom Abbs is a force of nature playing the upright bass. He performs with Jazz greats such as Reggie Workman, Andrew Bemky and Arnie Lawrence. In addition to the supreme mastery he has over his instrument, he straps to it a didjeridoo, hangs firecrackers from the bridge and has percussion toys on his feet. He also plays tuba. . .
AND...other musicians, beatboxers and poets often join as special guests to twist up the evening with more magic for special sets.
Jane LeCroy started singing her poetry a capella in 1993. She was part of the emo-core punk band Vitapup, was the front-woman of the rock band Spook Engine, ('95-'98) and the multi-media-electronica band Somnaut (96-2000). In 1999 and 2000 Jane LeCroy was part of the famous women poets, Sister Spit. Currently she performs solo and with TRANSMITTING. Jane LeCroy is a versatile performer and has crossed all kinds of music boundaries, collaborating with artists that range from punk, alternative rock, hip-hop and avant-garde Jazz, even a circus! Some artist she's collaborated with are Bonfire Madigan, Bitch & Animal, John S. Hall, Bradford Reed, Andy Bemky, Erik Lawrence, Napoleon Maddox, Taylor Mcferrin, Kid Lucky and Baba Israel.

Figures I'd get sick when you are playing Knitting Factory with Faun Fables. So sad to have missed your show last night. One nice thing about living in NY again is that I can just come see you next time! Miss you, Jane! Xo!!
Thanks for adding Rambles. NET to your friends' list!

JANE!! Oh how fun to watch your videos! It has been FAR too long since I saw that radiant face if yours in person. Saw your mom briefly this weekend, & did your sweet brother tell you we ran into each other? I SO owe him a reply email I've been so behind with my correspondence this winter, I'm so ready for spring. Hope to make it to one of your shows these days, though I'm rarely in the city. Sending you all much love & light xox
You know I teach ~ though I've been on leave for 2 minutes or more. MySpace helps me keep tabs on former students... I'm proud of all them but I want to bring your attention to Jafe and Duke, of the band VIVA MAYDAY.
