Authenticity trumps everything. When somebody is infused with music and the joy of making music, they can't really make a false move.
JANELLE SADLER is the real thing. She's honed her craft singing backup for some of the biggest names in the business, and when she takes her turn front and center at the mic you can feel her authenticity. She's as real and welcome as the first sunny day that cuts through the June gloom.
Its more than just a great set of pipes, which she certainly posesses. Its a sense of her own worth, and a craft learned on the road, in the stadiums, in the little clubs, the recording studios - its all there. Presence, humor, musicianship, honesty, generosity, intelligence, toughness - these are the qualities that make for great artistry. Quite simply, Janelle Sadler has them all.
Whether she's delivering her heart wrenching, plaintive reading of Janis Ian's "Jesse", or slinking through her Nina Simon-esque "My Baby Just Cares For Me", or belting out her great version of "Tainted Love", Janelle Sadler is what they used to call in jazz a "solid sender". She handles be-bop, country, rock, her own originals, and swing. (Her delightfully swingy version of "Blue Skies", with Janelle comping herself on guitar, is sublime)
There is never a sense that she is superimposing a style, or copping an attitude. She inhabits each genre like she was born to it. Its all music to her, folks, and she owns every bit of it.
Damn good trio, too - ADAM COHEN on bass, SINCLAIR LOTT on drums, and Janelle's wonderful hubby, ROBIN SWENSON (no slouch himself) on piano. These folks are fun to hang out with on the breaks, too - a major plus in this business!
It was a hip, adult, appreciative crowd, and just about the best time this old nightclub warhorse could expect to have on a Friday on the West Side of Los Angeles.
Am I gushing? You bet. That chick is a solid sender!
Hear CLIPS from JANELLE'S 2004 release: "DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH" featuring JACK LECOMPTE on drums and HARVEY NEWMARK on bass.
"What stands out on "DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH" is the vibrancy with which Janelle Sadler swings and scats with fluid ease. Articulate and instantly communicative, she's a singer who relates to a broad audience." JIM SANTELLA..ALL ABOUT JAZZ

"LIFE MOMENTS" TV REALITY SHOW FOOTAGE BELOW. Entitled "The Recording Of The First Song" for my 2004 CD release "DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH."
JIM GILLARD (producer/vocalist/songwriter) is the cute blonde guy with the glasses, my engineer is JOEL SOYFFER, and of course, my husband (keyboardist/vocalist/songwriter) ROBIN SWENSON! The fabulous women in the snipet are KELLY MONEYMAKER a wonderful singer/producer and LYNN FANELLI a kickass rock singer/educator who has taught me so much since I've been in this town.
The show included footage of NATALIE COLE who was so cool to agree to be a part of my story, and I will include that snipet at a later date. Thanks for watching! Recording Session
Thanks for checking out my site! I'm a singer who lives in LOS ANGELES; originally hailing from TAMPA BAY, Florida where I happily gigged for the first ten years of my career. I love JAZZ/POP, love to SWING HARD, and I love to perform live. I know, I know, studio gigs ARE incredible, but my favorite moments involve seeing "the whites of their eyes!" Unfortunately, onstage thrills are fleeting and quickly banished to the fading memories of those involved, but the REWARD is sitting at the breakfast table the next morning, excitedly recounting the previous night's show. Music is what I love to do and it's ALL I do, so I guess you could say that life is nice right now and I have no complaints. Let's make it happen in 2009BABY!!

A FANTASTIC TIME WAS HAD PERFORMING WITH THE LONG BEACH MUNICIPAL BAND DURING THEIR EIGHT WEEK SUMMER SERIES! I was honored to be asked to sing with this legendary big band in August for a week stretch. Full compliment big band and some of the baddest players in town! Was I nervous? You bet! But it all swung hard. Seriously hard. Thanks, guys!

Hi Janelle! Yeah, I do have more band stories, even though I will omit names, I'm still concerned!!! Oh what the hell, I just hope no one gets offended! :-)
Hiya Janelle! Thanks for leaving the supportive comment. I think the problem with myspace music at the moment is that too few artists actually run their own myspace pages-it's all management companies doing it.It is becoming harder to network or build friendships with other artists because of this. I have had to learn how to use a computer to do my myspace and get my music onto the net!My Wife and Kids all have to help me-but that is all part of the fun!I'm as proud of my myspace site as I am my music! God Bless, Tim.
I agree with your status comment. Seems like there is alot of spam and people who send out mass comments. Not as personal anymore! Hope your having a nice Tuesday! Take care, AlexaRae
