Janet Emma Garbe, along with songwriting partner and friend Julia Kasdorf, leads the alt-country band One Horse Town since it's inception in 2001. One Horse Town won the Washington Area Music Association's New Artist of the Year award with debut release "Dawn Will Deliver" (produced by Jon Carroll of Mary Chapin Carpenter Band) in 2006.
One Horse Town has shared the stage with Austin Cunningham, Kevin Welch, Walt Wilkins and the Mystiqueros, Marshall Tucker Band, Radney Foster, Travis Tritt, and an stellar group of DC's finest musicians through work with Band House Gigs and the worthwhile tributes they produce. OHT has also been blessed to play some amazing venues such as The Bluebird Cafe and Cadillac Ranch in Nashville, Strathmore Music Hall, State Theatre, Iota Club and Cafe, Jammin' Java, Franklin Park Center for Performing Arts, and many others! check 'em out at www.onehorsetownband.com
After 9 years writing and performing with One Horse Town, acting as the band's manager and agent, artistic director, and co-leader, Janet is testing her wings as a "solo" artist. One Horse Town remains alive and well and happily performing anytime, anywhere there is a great gig. Janet's solo project is a natural evolution, an adventure. Anything can happen. So far, every step has been wrought with miracles, blessings, and unwavering support from every angle.
Julia Kasdorf heartily supports Janet's endeavors, and has been active in assisting in creating ruffs for the new project, etc. You can find info about Julia and her music lessons, her original eco project "Blue Veil", and more at www.loudounmusiclessons.com
Walt Wilkins is at the helm of Janet's soon to be released solo project "Ghostfields". If that is not coolness enough, his killer Texas band, the Mystiqueros, are "the band" on this recording. Look for an April 2009 release!
Janet Emma is thrilled to be backed locally and regionally by some amazing DC area musician's to include Bill Williams (lead guitar, steel, mando, harmony vocals) and Kevin Cordt (trumpet and eye candy) of Last Train Home, Dwayne Nitz (drums, harmony vocals), and Kurt Kratch (bass and big brother advice). Who knows, maybe they'll consider going on the road with her for a jaunt or two! I think we need to play in Belize.
Brilliant artists and dear friends Mo Roderick and Marion Chamberlin shot photos for the cd cover, and amazing Graphics Designer and dear freind Liz Weaver wrapped it up real nice before we shipped off to Oasis Manufacturing to press. Check out brilliant, beautiful Liz at www.paprikacreative.com
Hey Janet, many thanks for the kind words. Great tunes and a great vibe! Sounds like you all were having a good time-what could sound better? Hope to run into you around town sometime soon, be good to you, Patty
