I have so many influences it's impossible to list them all. I mentioned quite a few in my bio but in addition to those artists I'm currently addicted to Bob Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited. It's just such an amazing album! I'm also listening to a lot of new artists that I've discoverd through my local radio station KFOG - folks like Rachel Yamagata, Jamie Cullum, The Ditty Bobs. To hear some great lesser known artists go to KFOG.com and check out their Live from the Archives music. As an artist, I'm really striving for my own sound, an ecclectic mix of rock, blues, folk and country. I don't want to get boxed into producing the same sound over and over again because I love music from so many different genres and I want that to be reflected in my sound.
I have been performing since I was a child. I grew up in a musical family and from the age of 6 began performing on stage in theatrical groups, choirs and rock bands. For many years I performed in an acoustic duo doing cover material until I began writing my own material in the spring of 2000. Since that time, I have had the awesome experience of working with talented Nashville producer, Jerry Cupit, I've released two full-length CDs and I am now performing with my band in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The music I listen to and have been influenced by ranges from 60's rock bands like the Beatles and the Stones to blues artists such as Bonnie Raitt, BB King, Eric Clapton, Dr. John and Ray Charles. I'm also a big fan of Sheryl Crow, Chris Isaak, and Lyle Lovett - to name a few. My family is originally from Tennessee and so I have an affinity for Appalachian music and country artists like Emmylou Harris and Patty Griffin. Throw in my love for black gospel music and spirituals and you could say my influences are widely varied! As a result, my music reflects that variety - some songs have a definite bluesiness to them, others have more of a pop/rock sound while still others lean towards contemporary folk. The feedback I've gotten from people is that they like the variety of moods and styles and feel like they can go to different places and times within a single muscial experience. The common thread is an acoustic feel throughout, and the most likely genre to place me in would be Americana. Please take a moment to listen to a few songs and see if my music speaks to you and thanks again for checking me out!
